Wakayama | Take the Kodama Electric Railway to Visit the Cat Stationmaster: Perfect for a Family Day Trip to Wakayama

#trip Family Outing Choice Wakayama, a relatively unknown city for Taiwanese tourists, hides a super cute train line perfect for exploring with children. The Kishigawa Line, once a struggling private railway, has been revived thanks to its cat stationmaster, Tama. This railway features six different trains: the Tama Museum, the Tama Tram, the Strawberry Tram, the Meisei Tram, the Chacha Express, and the Animal Friendly Tram. I was lucky enough to get all four, except for the Tama and Meisei Tram, which were closed. Among them, the most recommended and beautiful is the Tama Museum. The lavishly decorated train is as exquisite as a museum, and features photos and paintings of Tama. Best of all, the train has capsule toys on board, which will surely delight children. The Chacha Express, on the other hand, is a famous train character, with brightly colored carriages and adorable figurines, making it a real highlight. I highly recommend buying a one-day ticket. At only 800 yen, it's a great deal for both a round trip and a trip, compared to 410 yen for a single trip. If you're visiting other stations along the way, you'll save even more. This is the recommended way for your first time. 😻 From Wakayama, take the train to Kishi Station and visit the second-generation stationmaster, Tama. There's also a Tama souvenir shop with a wide selection of products, and a cafe where you can relax. 😻 Kishi Station is the origin of the Tama story. Today, the station is shaped like a cat, so taking a photo in front of the station is a treasured memory. 😻 Inside the station is the Tama Shrine. Tama passed away in 2015 from a heart attack. Starting in 2007, during his eight-year career as stationmaster, he transformed the abandoned line into a tourist hotspot. He served as a super stationmaster and even as acting president. He passed away at the age of 16. The railway company buried him with Shinto rites, and Wakayama named him Tama Daimyojin, the eternal honorary stationmaster who continues to protect the line. 😻Take the bus from Kishi Station to Idakiso Station, where you can visit the cat stationmaster, Yondaime, and stroll to the nearby Idakiso Shrine. 😻Take the bus from Idakiso Station back to Wakayama Station. When you purchase a one-day ticket, you'll be given a blank postcard. You can find stamps at various stations and on the train to create a special memory of your trip with your family.
