Sunlight in the City: Fragments of Lhasa and the Pilgrimage Time

This is our third time to Tibet, every time we come to Lhasa and see the Potala Palace, we will throw away the bumps and high altitudes encountered by the airflow on the plane. Lhasa Day one: Potala Palace: The world’s highest altitude and scale palace-like complex of buildings located on the Red Hill in the city of Lhasa, is a holy site of Tibetan Buddhism and an iconic building of Tibet. It is a place of pilgrimage for Tibetan Buddhist followers and houses the 12-year-old life-size statue of Shakyamuni. Tickets are $85 and require advance reservation. Koshoji Temple: About 1 km from Dashoji Temple, it is one of the important Tibetan Buddhist temples in Lhasa. According to legend, the Koshoji Temple was built for Princess Chizun, the Nepalese concubine of Songtsen Gampo, and was originally used to enshrine the 8-year-old life-size statue of Shakyamuni that she brought from Nepal (later exchanged with the 12-year-old life-size statue of Dashoji Temple). In the morning the inner hall dedicated to the statue is open and can be entered for worship. Tickets are $30 and no one sells tickets before 08:30. Drepung Temple: Take a taxi to Drepung Temple, you can hire Didi driver to open into the parking lot, pay 5 dollars parking fee, get off at the main entrance to buy tickets 60 dollars and security check, then get on the bus and continue up to the parking lot. The tour lasts about 3 hours, and you can find someone in the parking lot to pick up a ride back to the city or to the main gate. Drepung Temple is the largest of the six Gelug temples, 3800 altitude walk to me out of breath, inside the temple can not take pictures, outside can, white walls, red walls, yellow walls are very good for photos. Ticket 50 dollars, buy tickets at the foot of the mountain, then climb the Panshan road to reach the temple. Barkhor Street: A famous oriental road and commercial center in Lhasa, located around Dashoji Temple, is one of the important pilgrimage routes of Tibetan Buddhism, early morning just dawn can see Buddha worshipers until dark. Thousand Buddha Cliff: Located on the cliff on the north side of Yaowang Mountain, no ticket is required, the entrance is large murals, next to a pagoda, you can turn clockwise to view the brick paintings on the pagoda. Decon Hotel - Indian Restaurant: The restaurant is on the roof of the Decon Hotel where we stayed, the chef is Nepalese, said it is an Indian restaurant, actually Nepali cuisine (feeling almost), the taste is good, eat more Tibetan food, can occasionally adjust the taste.
