[Must-visit in London] The British Museum: Visit the cradle of world civilization; reflect on the rights and wrongs of cultural relics here

The British Museum is an amazing, outstanding, magnificent museum, one of the few museums in the West with a large collection of priceless, amazing and fascinating originals from ancient history - Middle Eastern, Egyptian, Roman and Greek, all from 2000 to 3000 years ago, with an astonishing collection of exhibits that is dazzling. The building itself is a work of art, including the additional Queen Elizabeth II Grand Atrium where people can rest, buy things and food, and even eat. If the back door is open, by all means use it as it will be more convenient, but be sure to walk out the front door to marvel at the main entrance of the building. Museum officials recommend reserving timed tickets, but they do reserve some time slots for people without tickets. It must have been shocking to see the line so long, all the way along the front of the block and more than halfway around the side corner of the block. This line is for everyone, including ticket holders and those without a timed QR code. The people in front of and behind me didn't have tickets, so everyone went in. It was 11:00am and the line was moving a little fast, if you didn’t have a bag you could get through quicker, but no one ever checked the QR code, maybe that would be different later that night!!! First I explored everything in the large courtyard on the first floor ~~ the Rosetta Stone** and everything from Assyria, Egypt, Greece and Rome: fragments of ancient sculptures, buildings, monuments. In particular, the 5-meter-high winged horse** that guarded the Assyrian temple and the real artifacts of the Parthenon** were particularly shocking. Then run up those 42 steps to Ancient Egypt and more Ancient Greece and Rome. The room is filled with ancient Egyptian mummies, as well as other finds from ancient Egyptian pyramids, including that of King Ramses VI. It was astonishing and exciting to see the unearthed remains of the tombs of Amun’s priests found at the Temple of the Sea (Die el-Bahri). This is the best part of the museum. Neighboring areas are about Ancient Rome and Greece, which are exciting too! Facing each other stood life-size busts with the faces of the infamous Augustus, Gaius Caesar, Tiberius, Titus the Cruel, Vespasian, and Hadrian. -All those who built so much, but destroyed even more There was a guidebook/map near the entrance and a €5 donation was suggested, but they had no change. There are plenty of toilets throughout the museum. The staff are very friendly and happy to give you directions to wherever you want to go. Overall, a very good museum. Notice #1: Don’t go during school holidays, there will be too many people! #2: Online booking is not necessary #3: Go as early as possible. Even if you have a reservation, you still have to queue in the long line in the building. Just a different team! ----------------------------------------------- 🏛️ British Museum 🕙 10:00~17:30 📍 Great Russell Street, London 🚇 Tottenham Court Road, Holborn, Russell Square #Must-visit check-in spots in the UK #History and Culture #London Attractions #Free Admission #Good Places for Families #Precious Cultural Relics #A Place You Must Visit in Your Lifetime
