Ruins of St Paul's in Macau

Ruins of St Paul's is the most iconic landmark in Macau. The original church was made of wood and damaged by fire in 1835. Now it left only the granite facade and the staircase. It is an important architectural structure to evidence the spread of Catholicism in the Far East. There are Asian influences on the ruins. Such as the Chinese guardian lion statue which is believed to have mystic protective powers can be found on the structure. There was also a Chinese temple adjacent to it. Along the way to the ruins, you will pass by a busy street with many vendors selling local biscuits, snacks and souvenirs.
