The resonance of the stone floor resonated with my feet, and the sunlight filtering through the trees deepened the stone patterns on the walls. At the end of the street, I encountered a quiet cathedral. It was dedicated to Isidor, the patron saint of Madrid. The cathedral is said to have begun as a Jesuit church in the 17th century. Designed by architect Pedro Sanchez in 1620, it slowly evolved into a church steeped in Madrid's religious faith. Later, with the expulsion of the Jesuits, it was renamed after Saint Isidor, and it is said to have continued as the great church where his remains are enshrined, remaining today. As I passed through the entrance and stepped inside, the very air felt different. Stone pillars imbued with the scent of time, and windows that seemed to direct even the light. It's not flashy, but the tranquility within envelops my heart. I stood and gazed for a long time. The light slowly moved along the high domed ceiling, and the shadows of the pillars brushed the walls, swaying like the breaths of those praying. At that moment, the word "faith" came to me not as a ritual, but as a "trace of time." I'm posting about 40 photos. The colors in this shoot are somehow not very good. The basalt-colored exterior walls, the intricate carvings on the altar, and the quiet people in front of the glass case containing the relics of Saint Isadore. The distant sound of bells and the faint sunlight filtering through the wooden benches blended into the video. This cathedral wasn't just a place of religion. It was a place of rest, a place where I could let go of the burdens of life and take a moment to pause. Although it was a building made of stone, the warmth of people lived within. As I stepped out the door for the last time, I turned around. The walls, long since weathered, were softly illuminated by the sunlight. At that moment, it felt as if someone had gently wrapped their arms around my shoulder. A warm silence lingered in my heart. I hadn't prayed, but my heart was already praying. (2025.11.2)
