Okinawa | The Top Ramen in My Heart - Nanjimura Ramen

Nanjimura Ramen, which won the Kyushu Ramen Grand Prix in 2002, has become one of the most popular ramen spots for tourists visiting Okinawa. To avoid the long queues in Naha, I decided to visit the branch in Nago for dinner. As soon as the doors opened, I was able to get in with only a few minutes of waiting. The ordering process is quite typical of Kyushu-style ramen shops. First, you select your desired meal on a self-service vending machine, pay, and then wait for the staff to guide you to your seat. You'll be given a sheet where you can customize your ramen preferences, such as choosing thick or thin noodles, firm or soft texture, whether to add green onions, spice level, and the richness of the broth. The shop has limited seating, with only eight counter seats and four tables at the back, allowing the staff to precisely control the timing of cooking and serving the ramen. I ordered the signature egg tonkotsu ramen with medium spice and thin noodles. I genuinely believe that thin noodles better absorb the aroma of the tonkotsu broth. The soup is somewhat reminiscent of Ichiran Ramen but less salty and not overly greasy. By the time I finished my meal and stepped outside, a long queue had already formed.
