Magome: a charming post town

I just got back from Magome, and wow… I think I found one of my favorite places in Japan. It’s this tiny old post town in the mountains — no cars, no chains, no noise. Just stone paths, wooden houses, a waterwheel, and insane views everywhere you look. It honestly felt like walking through a Ghibli scene. I stayed the night in a little ryokan, had homemade soba, tried gohei mochi (kind of like sweet miso on grilled rice), and woke up to the sound of birds and… silence. The best part? I walked the trail from Magome to Tsumago — it’s 8km through forests, rice fields, and sleepy villages. Took about 2.5 hours with lots of photo stops (of course). Super peaceful and not crowded at all.
