Kayabuki Village, an ancient village in Kyoto

The highlight of this village is the "Old Thatched Roof House", which has a high roof made of leaves called "Kayabuki Roofing". There are about 40 houses in total, and each house is still inhabited as usual. The architecture of the old houses not only preserves the traditional culture, but also allows you to feel the atmosphere of a real Japanese agricultural village. We arrived by car and stopped to eat at a restaurant in the parking lot opposite the village. It is a famous homemade soba noodle restaurant in this village. After we were full, we walked across the road to see the village. On the day we went, it was drizzling all day, but it had a different atmosphere because there was thick fog. The pictures came out beautifully. We arrived at the first landmark that everyone must come to take pictures. It is a red mailbox at the entrance of the village. After taking pictures, we walked to see the village museum. The entrance fee is 300 yen per person. Inside, there is the history of the village and various antique items. After walking until we were tired, we stopped to rest at a cafe called Milan Cafe. This shop has famous homemade ice cream. We tried the black bean ice cream and fresh milk ice cream. The taste was OK, not too sweet. They also have egg chiffon cake as souvenirs to buy and take home. After we had snacks, we walked around the village a bit more and then headed back.
