The season when you can enjoy the beach or pool without feeling cold on Okinawa's main island is essentially from late June to late September. Airfares are cheaper during the rest of the year, making for a cost-effective trip, but many people may be wondering what to do. Here are three tips for having fun. 1️⃣Enjoy the food🍙 Popular restaurants that are crowded and difficult to get into during peak season can be relatively easy to get into during the off-season. The popular restaurant we introduced, "Nakamura Soba," has a long line if you miss it right after opening during peak season. However, if you visit right after opening, around 10:30 AM to 11 AM during the off-season, you'll likely be able to get in without waiting. 2️⃣Enjoy a different lodging option🏕️ One of Okinawa's charms is staying in the mountains, such as Yanbaru or Nakijin Village. We recommend a stay to enjoy the mountains. The Muribushi Inn we're introducing is a glamping facility. The owner is very kind and will light a campfire for you at night and teach you how to make pizza in the morning. The glamping site is equipped with private showers and toilets, as well as a barbecue grill and sofas, making it an extremely comfortable and recommended experience even for families who don't usually camp. 3️⃣ Enjoy places where local children play 🐼 As you'd expect from Okinawa, where there are many children, Okinawa Island is home to many spacious parks with plenty of play equipment. In addition to the park near the hotel area in Onna Village, we also recommend Sera no Mori Park in Yomitan Village and Urasoe Park, famous for its long slide that can be seen from the highway. Another place you should definitely visit is Okinawa Zoo & Museum. Admission is 1,000 yen for adults, but free for children. Within the vast grounds, you'll find the following: ⚫︎A zoo where you can observe animals up close ⚫︎Animals feeding experience ⚫︎A small amusement park ⚫︎Science museum (indoor) ⚫︎Summer-only, but there's a splash pool zone. For first-time visitors, this facility is so packed with so much to see, you could spend a whole day there and still not see everything. I think children up to elementary school age will have plenty of fun. I'm a self-proclaimed Okinawa fanatic, having visited Okinawa Island with my kids over 20 times.
