Pattaya, Being close to Bangkok, If all you have is a day or two, or even a single day, then you can reach it in around two hours from Bangkok. This also leads to considerable traffic congestion around Thai holidays. Very affordable. Hotels are everywhere in every price range, but you mostly get excellent value by any standard (Thai or anywhere). You can basically spend what you like, from 400 Baht to 4000 Baht and up. Funtime / adventures : There are so many attractions in this sizeable location that one simply can’t get bored from adventure parks to boat rides and lots of Resturent, bars and clubs. The general area has several beaches up and down the coastline and also at Ko Larn island off the coast. Jomtien is the biggest one after Pattaya beach itself, and then there an are beaches further South from there. Ko Samet island is also not too far away. Nowhere comes close to the Andaman coast in the South, but it’s perfectly adequate for a day at the beach with family & kids. Nightlife, and also a lot of ‘naughty nightlife’. This is most massive around Walking Street at the Southern end of Beach Road, including down all the side streets. But it really is everywhere, even when you drive or walk.
