Prepare for serious palace vibes—Chinese architecture, shimmering ponds, and tree-lined walks set the scene for an epic outdoor cultural adventure. Top Spots to Visit: 1. Đại Nội (FH9H+9CP, Phú Hậu, Tp. Huế) Open 08:00-17:00, this is Hue's grand Imperial City—walk the mighty walls and gaze at ornate gates and ancient relics under the warm sun. If you're staying at a homestay inside the campus (highly recommended!), you’ll save loads on travel time and nab easy morning access. 2. Kiến Trung Palace (32 Đặng Thái Thân, Phú Hậu) Open 07:30-17:30, with close-up building views and peaceful gardens. Snap pics by the ponds and get that iconic “Chinese architecture + blue skies” aesthetic. 3. Thai Hoa Palace (Imperial City, Hue) Open 06:30-17:00, a must for royal throne room feels and epic activity shots in front of gorgeous lacquerwork. Personal Tip: Slip into a “Nhat Binh” dress before exploring—it’s Hue’s traditional garb and genuinely transforms your palace wanderings into a top-tier experience. You’ll blend right in with the scenic heritage and score unique photos! Travel Tips: Getting around Hue’s Phu Hau area is easiest on foot, especially if you book a homestay inside or near the Imperial City (look for campus listings on trip.com for direct access). Pack a hat—it gets sunny fast! For snacks and drinks, local food stalls around the gates serve cheap eats and iced tea to refuel. No visa required for many nationalities, but double-check before booking. #HueImperialCity #VietnamTrip #PalaceDays #TravelTips #tripdotcom

Hue, Vietnam | Thieu Phuong Garden: A Retreat of Imperial Gardens, Lush Flowers and Trees Amid the majestic palaces of Hue's Imperial City, Thieu Phuong Garden (Thượng Phương Viên) stands as a uniquely poetic site. Once a haven for the Nguyen Dynasty emperors and their concubines, this garden offered a tranquil and gentle contrast to the imposing grandeur of the Hall of Supreme Harmony. The garden boasts lush flowers and trees, clear ponds, and is interspersed with stone bridges, rockery, and pavilions. Strolling through it, one can imagine the emperors of yesteryear, accompanied by scholars, enjoying a moment of leisure, discussing poetry and drinking. Every ancient tree and stone path seems to evoke the spirit of time. Though less prosperous today than it once was, Thieu Phuong Garden still exudes the charm of a classical garden. When the spring flowers bloom, the garden bursts with vibrant colors, and the sound of birdsong blends with the gentle breeze, creating a poetic experience.

Hue Imperial City, Vietnam | Meridian Gate: The Majestic Gateway of Former Emperors Entering Hue Imperial City, the first thing that catches your eye is the majestic Meridian Gate. This gate served as the main entrance to the Nguyen Dynasty, reserved for the emperor's exclusive use, symbolizing the supreme power of the imperial family. Standing before it, gazing up at the layered eaves and massive walls, visitors can almost sense the solemn atmosphere of imperial ceremonies and military ceremonies. Above the Meridian Gate, a high platform and pavilions once served as venues for ceremonies and military parades. Although it no longer serves the imperial system, the traces of history remain, awe-inspiring. The afternoon sun shines brightly on the vermilion gatehouse and golden glazed tiles, giving them a dazzling brilliance. Standing here is more than just a visit to a historical site; it feels like a conversation with time, touching upon memories of the rise and fall of an empire.
