Back from Pingtan, feeling really lucky

A few days ago, the weather forecast said a typhoon was coming to Pingtan. Luckily, I retreated in time before the typhoon and managed to take some beautiful photos. Although the typhoon left quickly, it rained on and off afterward, which affected the trip a lot. But if you want to experience a different kind of Pingtan travel and enjoy sightseeing on cloudy days, you must listen to the following tips! ⚠️Note 1: Don’t go clam digging in heavy rain! Forget about chartering a boat too! Besides the danger of big waves, fishermen say all accessible spots will be canceled last minute, and you won’t get a refund but will suffer. ⚠️Note 2: On rainy days, the northern ecological corridor is all fog, and the glass plank road turns into a "rag plank road" with visibility of only 5 meters. Better to stay in your guesthouse and edit photos. ⚠️Note 3: Queues at all popular restaurants get even crazier! Maoji Claypot Porridge usually has a 1-hour wait, but in rain it’s 2 hours or more. It’s better to order takeout directly (though the taste drops to 70%). ⚠️Note 4: Betel nut bugs are more rampant in the rain! Their bites swell and itch badly. Bring mosquito repellent containing DEET; the ones provided by guesthouses are useless. ⚠️Note 5: It’s extremely hard to get a taxi at the high-speed rail station! Illegal taxis double their prices. Use the "Minyun Yixing" mini-program to book official cars, or take the bus to the city center before hailing a taxi. ⚠️Note 6: Monkey Research Island closes temporarily during heavy rain, and the 68 Haili sign is barely visible. You’ll waste a trip and get frustrated. ⚠️Note 7: Food delivery is so slow it makes you question life! Especially around Longfeng Road, waiting 2 hours in heavy rain is normal. Stock up on instant noodles in advance. ⚠️Note 8: Navigation to "Changjiang’ao Windmill Fields" won’t get you any windmills! On rainy days, search for "Windmill Forest Road" instead. Shooting in the fog can barely save the atmosphere. ⚠️Note 9: Night market stalls basically don’t open in heavy rain. Haitan Ancient City Snack Street becomes the only option, but prices rise 30% and the taste is worse. ⚠️Note 10: Tannan Bay Beach turns into a muddy swamp in rain! The seawater is murky and brings in a lot of trash. Better to go to Longwangtou Beach where at least someone cleans up. ⚠️Note 11: Guesthouses are so damp you can wring water out of clothes! Choose places with dehumidifiers, or your clothes will still smell sour after drying for three days. ⚠️Note 12: For safe and delicious food, go to Maoji Seafood Claypot Porridge, Nostalgic Fujian Folk Dishes, Yucu Seafood Food Stall (closed today), or Laomazha Local Hotpot. ⚠️Note 13: Pingtan’s weather is unpredictable; it can be sunny in the morning and pour in the afternoon. I recommend an indoor place locals love called "Weifu Club Art Store." It’s spacious with DIY activities, instant cameras, and lots of Pingtan cultural products. You won’t regret going!!
