While traveling to parade the Kathin by boat, the crocodile swam after him. After a while, he told his wife that he could not follow because he was tired. The son and wife then drew a crocodile on the flag and held it up at the temple where they went to make merit. When the monks finished chanting, the crocodile died. It was reborn as a wealthy god who inspired those who respected it to do well in business and be safe from all dangers. Since then, crocodile flags have appeared at various temples during the Kathin ceremony.
