Exploring Mazu Culture ~ Summer Tour of Putian Museum

When you come to Putian, the hometown of Mazu, of course you have to explore the Mazu culture. I didn’t have the chance to go to Meizhou Island this time, so I wanted to visit the museum in Putian city. It is said that there is a whole floor of Mazu culture display here. Summer opening hours (June 1st - September 30th), national statutory holidays Daily opening hours: 9:00-17:30 (no admission after 17:00); Winter season (October 1st - May 31st): 9:00-16:30 (last admission at 16:00) The Ji Museum has 4 floors, the first floor is the boutique hall of the collection of cultural relics. The latest exhibitions are the tea culture special exhibition and the porcelain exhibition. The second floor is the Putian History and Culture Exhibition Hall, which is a bit empty. There are not many exhibits, mainly sculptures and installations. The third floor is the Putian folk culture display, which is the most vivid and interesting floor, with very rich folk culture displays, dragon boat racing, solar term food, and opera culture. The fourth floor is what I was most looking forward to, the Mazu Culture and Maritime Silk Road Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, but it was not open today! ! !! The Puyang Study is located on the 4th floor of the museum. It is a good place to read. Below is Shouxi Park, the scenery is so beautiful that it is worth a visit. I wanted to read the story of Mazu specifically, so I could only search it online. Mazu, whose original name was Lin Mo, was born in 960 AD on Meizhou Island, Putian, Fujian. She was named Lin Mo because she did not cry or make a fuss from birth to the full moon. She later died in 987 AD at the age of 28 while rescuing people from a shipwreck. Mazu is one of the three major gods in my country's national rituals, the other two being Huangdi and Confucius. Next time I will definitely go to Meizhou Island to learn from it up close!
