A Fascinating Stop at Reading Museum

Location: Blagrave Street, Reading RG1 1QH, United Kingdom While exploring the town centre, I decided to step into Reading Museum, and I’m so glad I did. It’s inside the beautiful old Town Hall building, just a short walk from the train station and Forbury Gardens. The museum is small but full of character. I wasn’t expecting to spend much time there, but I ended up staying longer than planned. One of the most impressive things was the full-size replica of the Bayeux Tapestry—it stretches across an entire room and tells the story of the Norman Conquest in incredible detail. There were also local history exhibits, Victorian artefacts, and even some art from the Reading area. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the town’s roots and culture. The staff were friendly too, and it’s free to enter, which is always a bonus. If you’re visiting Reading and have an hour to spare, this museum is a great way to connect with the town’s story.
