Colosseum

The Flavian Amphitheatre is a large open-air stadium located in the heart of Rome. It was started during the reign of Emperor Vespasian of the Roman Empire and completed during the reign of Emperor Titus in the 1st century. The amphitheatre is a circular structure made of brick and sandstone with a circumference of approximately 527 meters and a height of 57 meters. It can accommodate approximately 50,000 spectators. It was cleverly designed to be an oval shape to make the spectators feel closer to the athletes. The design of the drainage system prevents the field from flooding during rain. It is considered a prototype for many stadiums today. #visititaly
