Bukchon Hanok Village and Seiji Fujishiro's Bukchon Space~!

Afternoon tea at 2 PM and Jamsil Baseball Stadium at 6:30 PM~! This is the planned day~! While trying to book a janggu (traditional Korean drum) ticket at a friend's request, I noticed an exhibition and decided to visit it. The venue is Bukchon Hanok Village, and since afternoon tea is planned at Dongdaemun, the route allows for bus travel, making it possible to fit all three activities into one day. Although the weather was on and off with showers, the rain stopped in the afternoon, and it wasn't too hot, making it a pleasant day to walk around. After visiting Michelin-recommended Gejang (soy sauce marinated crab) restaurant 'Keungiwajip,' I returned to Bukchon after a long time. When I lived in Jongno-gu, I had memories of coming here for civil defense gatherings at Hyundai Construction's headquarters. Despite being in the heart of Seoul, this area exudes a nostalgic and traditional atmosphere. Walking up the slightly sloped path, reminiscent of Kyoto or Nara, I passed by Gye-dong Church and eventually arrived at today's destination. Just walking up to this place felt like a moment of relaxation. The exhibition I visited today is the permanent exhibition of the world-renowned shadow art master, Seiji Fujishiro. Simply the fact that he is a Japanese artist made me want to see this exhibition.🤣 Interestingly, I realized I had often encountered shadow art through advertisements and videos. I carefully observed the works, some of which depicted famous Japanese landmarks I had visited, making them even more delightful. Landmarks like Sapporo's Mount Moiwa Observatory and Osaka's Expo Commemorative Park are illustrated in shadow art. Cats frequently appear in the works, and the depiction of a cat gazing at an ekiben (train station bento) is absolutely adorable🐈⬛. The exhibition includes a space where you can watch the shadow art film adaptation of 'The Little Match Girl,' as well as shadow art commercials and weather forecast videos, which were fascinating. As a bonus, if you go up to the 3rd floor, there's an outdoor terrace where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Bukchon Hanok Village. It's a hidden spot where you can admire the tiled roofs of the hanok houses to your heart's content. Thank you.
