Crisp Layers & Quiet Design – My Visit to OUDE, Seoul

#seoulspots Tucked into the industrial-chic enclave of Seongsu-dong, OUDE is a spacious café-bakery housed in a converted warehouse with airy high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. I visited mid-morning on a weekday and spent about 1–1.5 hours wandering the two-level space, sipping coffee, and sampling pastries. What I Tried & Tasted: • Cinnamon Cream Cheese Cronut/Croffin: Light, flaky, generously piped with cream cheese filling and dusted with cinnamon—a signature item that sells out by mid-afternoon . • Salt Bread & Cake Selection: The savory salt bread is a local favorite. I also tried the chocolate cake and lemon-lime basil sherbet for a contrasting freshness. • Peanut Butter Cappuccino & Vanilla Milk: The peanut butter cappuccino delivers layered richness and nutty warmth; the vanilla milk latte was smooth and sweet without being cloying. Space & Vibe: OUDE balances industrial rawness with thoughtful comfort. Tables and seating are well spaced despite large interiors, and while noise can rise during peak hours, weekday visits feel calmly atmospheric . Some reviews note that while the coffee impresses, the bread selection can be hit-or-miss—but the pastries remain the draw. () Admission & Practical Info: • 🕒 Hours: Mon–Fri ~8:00–21:00; Sat & Sun ~11:00–22:00 (check Instagram for updates) • 💴 Prices: Coffee ~₩4,000–₩7,000; pastries ~₩5,500 and up 🍰 • 🚇 Access: 2nd floor at 36 Seongsui‑ro 24-gil, Seongdong-gu—about 8 minutes’ walk from Seongsu Station (Line 2), Exit 2 • ♿ Facilities: Ground-floor entry only; no elevator. Outdoor terrace is pet-friendly. () • ⏱ Suggested Visit Time: 1–1.5 hours, especially if you want to enjoy multiple pastries or relax with a beverage. Why It’s Worth Visiting: • Artisanal treats: The signature cronuts and savory salt bread pair well with OUDE’s roasted blends. • Modern industrial-chic: Ample light, open layout, and refined design make the space itself immersive. • Consistency with charm: Despite occasional bakery misses, reviews praise both aesthetics and the coffee craft. • Seongsu fit: Perfect for a pause while exploring Seoul’s creative “Brooklyn”—pair it with vintage shops or Obscura Store next door. Final Thoughts: OUDE is a stylish café destination where visuals meet flavor—especially if you arrive early for pastries and linger over a quietly crafted coffee. It captures Seongsu’s artisan spirit: measured, visual, and inviting.
