[Wakayama] Hayatama Taisha Shrine, one of the Kumano Sanzan shrines

Visited in April 2023 *Kumano Hayatama Taisha Located at the mouth of the Kumano River, the shrine grounds are home to a large "Nagi tree" that is a sacred natural monument. ✨ The current shrine building was burned down in September 1883 and rebuilt afterwards, but the World Heritage Site includes the shrine grounds, the "Kamikurayama" behind it, the "Mifunejima" floating in the Kumano River, and the "Otabisho"😊 It is said that the shrine building was built and enshrined at the current location to welcome Kumano Gongen, who descended to Gotobiki Rock at the southern end of Kamikurayama😊 Since then, it is said that this place has been called Shingu in contrast to the original shrine on Kamikurayama☺️ #Pilgrimage #Kumano Sanzan #Kumano Pilgrimage #Kumano Hayatama Taisha
