🦀 Crab Heaven at Kani Goten, Shiraoi

We made a special stop at Kani Goten while driving through Shiraoi, and I’m so glad we did. This place is all about crab—from fresh to dried, live tanks to grilled and ready-to-eat. As someone who loves seafood, especially crab, it felt like a dream. There’s a restaurant inside the building, and we went straight for a crab feast. I ordered the kani-don (crab rice bowl), which was generously topped with sweet, juicy crab meat. It was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. We also tried their crab miso soup—rich and comforting, perfect for the cool weather. After lunch, we explored the shop area, which was filled with every imaginable type of crab product. The staff were very friendly and even offered us samples. It was hard not to walk out with a bag full of crab snacks and souvenirs.
