#VisitChonburi I had the opportunity to visit Sriracha Shinto Shrine, a Japanese shrine in the middle of Sriracha. I must say that just stepping into the shrine makes you feel like you’ve truly entered Japan. From the bright red torii at the entrance to the peaceful and orderly surroundings. Before entering to pay homage, we started by washing our hands according to the Shinto custom called Temizu, or the purification ceremony. The shrine staff politely and friendlyly advised us on the steps, making us feel like we were learning about the culture at the same time. Then we walked in to make a wish at the altar by bowing twice, clapping twice, and bowing once more, which is the method used in authentic Japanese shrines. And of course, we didn’t miss out on the chance to draw lots. By donating only 40 baht, we got a “very lucky” fortune slip, which was a good sign for starting something new. Inside the shrine, there are many other places to walk around, including a corner selling cute Japanese amulets and a corner selling blue shirts for taking pictures, which helps to create an atmosphere that feels like being at a temple in Kyoto. This shrine is not only beautiful, but also full of peace and power of faith. It is suitable for both coming to make a wish.
