Huanglongxi · Perfumery Studio | A scent lingers in the heart amidst the misty waters of the ancient town The streets and alleys of Huanglongxi Ancient Town are home not only to teahouses and ancient buildings, but also to a small perfumery studio. Pushing open the wooden door, you're greeted not by the smoke of tea, but by wisps of delicate aroma. Glass bottles hold the scents of flowers, woods, fruits, and herbs; essential oils and incense sticks scattered on the table speak a different language of the ancient town. The perfumer works quietly, piecing together layer upon layer of scent, like weaving an invisible poem. Sitting inside, listening to the sound of the river outside the window, I suddenly felt: These aromas, like the gurgling waters of Huanglongxi and the bluestone slabs of the ancient streets, are witnesses of time. Scents are invisible, yet they reach the heart, like a silent journey.

Huanglongxi Guanyin Hall and Maitreya Hall | Compassion and Laughter Coexist, a Cool Refreshment Amidst the Bustling Ancient Town Entering Huanglongxi Ancient Town, amid the sound of the river, the ancient temples still shimmer with incense. The Guanyin Hall and Maitreya Hall, one tranquil, the other dynamic, one compassionate, the other smiling, form a striking contrast. In the Guanyin Hall, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva sits upright on a lotus pedestal, brows lowered, his demeanor serene. The dim light within the hall lingers, and the lingering incense mist reflects his compassion, gradually bringing peace to the heart. Believers clasp their hands or whisper prayers, bringing with them worldly sorrows, yet find a sense of coolness in the Bodhisattva's compassionate gaze. Nearby, in the Maitreya Hall, the large-bellied Maitreya Buddha beams with a smile that practically illuminates the entire space. Someone once said, "With a smile on his face, he laughs at the world's most ridiculous people; with a broad mind, he tolerates even the most difficult things." Here, even sorrow seems to be washed away by laughter, leaving behind a sense of openness and freedom.

A Corner of the Huanglongxi Buddhist Temple A monk, by nature, has no roots. Wandering through the world, he finds shelter in his monk's robes. Walking through the Huanglongxi Buddhist Temple, amidst the lingering curls of incense, the robes are not merely ornaments, but rather a symbol of responsibility, a symbol of resting the adversity of human hearts in the light of compassion. I watched him lower his brows and clasp his hands together, and suddenly I understood: "Rootlessness" is not about being without support, but rather about placing one's roots in the earth and the sky, and one's heart in the Dharma and sentient beings. A monk's robe, passing through the Buddhist temple, actually carries all the souls in this world who have nowhere to rest.
