Taipei Grand Hyatt Hotel, BelAir Western Restaurant

Known as one of Taipei's most romantic dining spots, BelAir Western Restaurant is offering a special promotion this year: 50% off for two members and a business lunch package. Finally, I had the chance to revisit this enchanting European-style restaurant with its fountain ambiance ❤️ During my previous visits, I tried the Wellington steak. This time, I decided to explore other steak options and the business lunch 🥳 The menu is divided into à la carte and set meal options. For 2024, the head chef of the Grand Hyatt Taipei's Western Cuisine Department, Luo Weizhou (who has led the BelAir team to win the Michelin Plate recommendation for four consecutive years since 2018), has introduced a limited-time set menu (available at a 25% discount). The business lunch offers two set options: 3 courses for NT$1,480 and 4 courses for NT$1,680. (If using the Gourmet Card discount, the original price of NT$2,280/NT$2,480 applies.) The bread platter served before the meal has been standardized to a single type of bread to match the guest menu 😑 Next came the appetizers. I chose a salad with cheese and roasted apple, as well as Wagyu beef tartare with caviar. The salad was so delicious that the owner joked about wanting to eat it every day 😂. The composition and seasoning of the Wagyu tartare were completely different from last year, and it was equally delightful ❤️ The business lunch includes a creamy tomato soup, which was served at the right temperature and had a nice flavor. For the other set menu, the hot appetizer was spicy grilled tiger prawns. Although the plating wasn't as exquisite as last year's, the taste was phenomenal! Next came the main course. The business lunch surprisingly included a 140g U.S. New York strip steak, which was very generous! The medium-rare steak had a decent texture and wasn't as tough as expected. The other steak option was the owner's favorite, Chateaubriand, paired with half a shelled lobster. The medium-rare steak still had a bit of gristle, prompting the owner to comment on how it differed from Japanese standards 😂 Finally, there were desserts, tea, and beverages to round off the meal, which were quite satisfying. Starting tomorrow, the business lunch menu will be adjusted, so it's worth another visit!
