Chilly but laid-back Tianjin

Tianjin is a modern city which is a 30 mins by train from Beijing. It's easy to visit if you're visiting Beijing. Tianjin doesn't have as much to do as it's famous neighbor but it's still nice to explore and see some historic sites. For example, Tianjin has some foreign concessions so it has a flavor that kind of reminds you of Shanghai. There are also a few small eats that are famous in Tianjin such as goubuli buns. If you visit in the winter, you'll get a real feel of a cold winter that is missing from the southern part of China.
