📍Location/Transportation Overview Mount Victoria is located on the eastern side of Wellington's city center. You can reach the summit by walking from downtown, which takes about 60–90 minutes (approximately 2.6–4.6 km), taking the No. 20 bus directly to the summit, or driving to the parking lot at the top. 📝Personal Experience (Approx. 250 Words) The first time I set foot on Mount Victoria's trail, I wandered through ancient pine forests and Victorian-style hillside villas, accompanied by a gentle breeze and the scent of pine. Upon reaching the summit viewing platform, the expansive 360° panorama instantly took my breath away: to the north, the Tararua Ranges and the outline of the South Island; to the east, ferries in the harbor and Auckland Bay; and to the south, the airport and the blue-green waters of Coal Mine Bay. Beyond the stunning views, the summit also features the Byrd Memorial and an old cannon from the Victorian era, once used for signaling noon, evoking echoes of history carried by the wind. My favorite moment was sitting by the viewing platform, watching the sunset paint the sky and cityscape in hues of red, the harbor shimmering in golden light, and the breeze gently brushing past—time seemed to pause softly in that instant. Starting from downtown, I walked up via Majoribanks Street or McFarlane Street and descended through Oriental Bay. This journey felt like a tender dialogue between city and nature, history and modernity. Whether in the morning light, at dusk, or during any moment you wish to slow down, Mount Victoria offers not just beautiful scenery but a profound sense of space and time.
