Misty Wuyuan, as beautiful as a painting

Departing from Wuhan in the morning, a 4-hour high-speed train ride takes you to Wuyuan Station. Right at the exit, taxis offer fixed-price shared rides to your desired destination. Shared with other travelers, it costs 25 RMB per person to reach Huangling Tourist Center. Since I had booked the "Shaiqiu Meisu" homestay in advance (check my previous post for accommodation details and recommendations), I didn’t need to purchase tickets. I simply checked in at the hotel front desk next to the tourist center. With the ticket provided by the hotel, I took the cable car up—note that the hotel ticket allows only one round trip, not multiple rides. 👨 Upon arriving at the mountain, the hotel’s dedicated porter helped with my luggage. An electric cart then took me to the hotel’s mountain-top reception, where another porter escorted me to my room. By the time everything was settled, it was already 4 PM. I headed out to explore. Despite being in the mountains, Huangling in summer was still quite humid and not as cool as expected. The entire scenic area can be fully explored in about 2-3 hours. 📷 The mountain paths are filled with great photo spots. Here are two recommended viewpoints: 1️⃣ Take the stairs next to Dicos and follow the one-way route. Passing through Wugui Hall leads to the Shaiqiu Renjia Viewing Platform—an open-air spot perfect for photos. 2️⃣ The Photography Bar Viewing Platform also offers panoramic views, though indoor shots here may suffer from backlighting. 🌞 A thunderstorm hit overnight, but the next morning, I opened my window to mist-shrouded mountains, evoking the classic "misty Jiangnan" scenery. Later, rain gave way to sunshine, and locals said we were lucky—in Wuyuan, a mix of sun, rain, and clouds is considered ideal weather, even for weddings. Indeed, the rain here never lasts long. 📒 Visiting on a weekday was a mistake—online guides mentioned performances only on weekends. I missed the dragon lantern parade and only saw the props being packed up, which was disappointing. Huangling is clearly worth revisiting, as its scenery changes beautifully with each season.
