Haoyue Garden 🌳

We walked into Haoyue Garden just as the light began to soften, the stone paths warm beneath our feet. The sea was close, its scent moving through the open air and brushing against the old pines. We followed the curve of the garden toward the statue, past low hedges and quiet steps, until he stood before us, Zheng Chenggong, facing the waves. He didn’t feel like a monument. He felt like a watchman, still holding the line. 🌊🌲🪨 Near the base, we sat for a while and watched the tide pull against the rocks. Gulangyu’s rooftops stretched behind us, and ahead, the mainland shimmered across the water. It was calm but weighty, like history resting gently on your shoulder.
