Xichang · Qionghai Lake Sichuan's Own Sea

In Sichuan, I found that "sea" 🌊 Taking the high-speed train from Chengdu, three hours later, the scenery outside the window gradually changes from cityscape to mountains, until a patch of deep blue suddenly comes into view—Qionghai Lake has arrived. We stayed at "Banyin Yunju," a guesthouse that made me want to extend my stay indefinitely. In the morning, when you open the curtains, the sunlight fills the entire Qionghai Lake, and the water surface sparkles with tiny golden lights. At night, standing on the guesthouse lawn, watching the lights on the opposite shore reflected in the water, it almost feels like being by the sea. Starting from the left side of the hotel, walking slowly along the boardwalk, every step is a scenic view. The wind blows over the lake, carrying a moist scent, and the waves gently lap the shore. The afternoon wind can be a bit strong, so remember to bring an extra jacket. Be sure to wait until around 5 p.m., when the sky presents a dreamy blue hour. The best spot to watch the sunset is Jinlin Beach—there, the view is wide open, watching the sun slowly sink into the "sea" surface. Rent a cute bicycle-style electric scooter for 60 yuan and circle the lake. Riding the scooter, letting the lake breeze brush through your hair, this is what a vacation should feel like. Xichang’s cuisine won’t disappoint no matter which restaurant you walk into. Charcoal barbecue, drunken shrimp, Yi ethnic dishes... every dish leaves a lingering taste. This place isn’t the sea, but it fulfills all my imaginations of the sea.
