2 Days 1 Night at Qiyun Mountain, Ganzhou: See the Sea of Clouds, Blood Moon, Meteor Shower, and Sunrise All at Once

My first-ever sea of clouds experience ☁✨ Who understands, family! Qiyun Mountain in Ganzhou really locks romance at the mountaintop! Drove from downtown Shenzhen in the morning, had lunch on the way, and arrived at the foot of the mountain at Guanggu Mountain Villa around 3 PM. Started the climb leisurely~ Chose the Shangyou route, 7.5 km with a very gentle ascent, passing through bamboo forests and crossing small streams. When tired, just sit on the grassy slope to rest; the evening breeze is super pleasant 🌿 After climbing for over 4 hours, I reached the Hero Slope just in time. As soon as I stood still, I was speechless at the sea of clouds before me! The waves of clouds rolled and filled the mountain valley, with distant peaks poking out like floating in a fairyland~ But the best was yet to come! After dark, the blood moon slowly rose, an orange-red moon hanging above the sea of clouds, paired with a sky full of stars, and I even saw several meteors streak across—pure happiness overload 😭 At night, continued climbing to the summit to camp (you can also camp at Hero Slope). You can rent tents at the summit; be sure to rent a hard-shell tent for 268 RMB per person, and add 80 RMB for a blanket if there’s a second person, but it’s best to bring your own sleeping bag for extra warmth. It’s freezing at the top!!! 🥶 Lazy-friendly ✅ Although it’s a bit chilly at the summit, wrapped in a sleeping bag watching the starry sky is amazing. The next day, got up at 5:30 AM, no need to go far, just a ten-minute walk to the summit to watch the sunrise! Watching the morning sun dye the sea of clouds golden red, the clouds changing from milky white to orange-pink, the whole world lighting up in that moment, all the climbing fatigue was worth it! Also saw Buddha’s light, sunlight shining on the sea of clouds like a halo, a circle, and a faint rainbow-like color. On the way down, I realized the whole route is scenic. On the first day, it was already dark when I climbed, so I only saw the sea of clouds but not the scenery. The autumn yellows are breathtaking. 📝 Super practical guide (tested and reliable): ✔️ Navigation location: Guanggu Mountain Farmhouse (easy parking, can replenish supplies) ✔️ Route: Prioritize the Shangyou route! Gentle ascent and great scenery, even beginners can handle it ✔️ Gear: Wear non-slip shoes (some sections have gravel), bring a light jacket (big temperature difference at the summit), pack some snacks and water (mountain shops only sell instant noodles and water) ✔️ Best season: October to November for frequent sea of clouds, avoid the rainy season for better chances to see the beauty No need to wait for holidays, just two days on the weekend is enough! Leave all your worries in the mountains and go on a date with the sea of clouds and starry moon~
