#September2025 If you love coffee and want to work up a sweat, the Hebao Mountain Trail in Gukeng, Yunlin, is a fantastic choice! Known as the "hometown of Taiwanese coffee," the trail is nestled among coffee plantations, and the light aroma of coffee wafts through the air as you walk along—a truly unique experience. And it's not just about coffee. During the tung blossom season in April and May, the entire trail is blanketed in white tung blossoms, resembling a romantic April snow—a truly dreamy experience! Enjoying both coffee trees and tung blossoms is a fantastic value! Some sections of the trail are pristine dirt roads and steep steps, making them slippery after rain. Wearing non-slip, comfortable shoes is recommended. Also, mosquitoes are more common in the summer, so be sure to take precautions. ☕️ Atmosphere/Facilities: The Hebao Mountain Trail has several entrances, but the most popular route begins near the Earth Mother Temple. The trail is short, taking just over an hour round trip. It's not a challenging hike, making it a great challenge for families. A key feature is the abundance of coffee trees along the way. If the season is right, you might even see them in bloom with small white flowers or red berries. During tung blossom season, the trail becomes a stunning white carpet of fallen blossoms. At the end of the trail, there's a viewing platform with a stunning view of Gukeng and Douliu. The arduous climb to this view makes it all worthwhile. After your hike, be sure to stop by Baden Coffee at the foot of the mountain or one of the other nearby cafes for a cup of authentic Gukeng coffee. ☕ This is the perfect end to your coffee mountain adventure.
