World Heritage - Middle Section of the Grand Canal at Tai'erzhuang! This is my first time visiting the Shandong section of the Grand Canal (although just a kilometer or two away is Jiangsu). The riverbank was once a major commercial hub and became a fierce battlefield at one point. I tried to find traces of war scars in the rebuilt ancient town... Because transportation is not very convenient, the ancient town is not overcrowded even on summer vacation weekends, and it is even quieter during the day. So even though it is a reconstructed commercial ancient town, the experience is very good. The iron flower performance is worth seeing, and just a hundred or two meters away from the iron flower show is the War Site Park. Hopefully, the only thing lighting up the sky will be the iron flower, never war again.
