Zhangjiajie, Furong Town, and Fenghuang Ancient Town: 5 Days and 4 Nights

📅 Itinerary Day 1: Take the high-speed train from Hong Kong to Zhangjiajie West, arriving at 2:55 PM. Use Gaode app to call a car to Orange Hotel. Before 4:30 PM, visit the 72 Wonders Building ($20 entry fee). Check the performance schedule inside (many shows last 5-10 minutes, pay attention to the locations). Try bargaining when shopping across the street. Day 2: Call a car at 8 AM to go to the Forest Park East Gate and enter the park. Cable car ride costs around $7x per trip; we chose Route A. The ride takes about 10 minutes. By around 2 PM, take the bus to Yuanjiajie and other areas (note: bad weather may block some roads, forcing you to take the cable car again, which can be uncomfortable for those afraid of heights). From the cable car station, take a bus to Ten-Mile Gallery and ride the small train (tickets required) to explore. Walk along Jinbian Stream to the South Gate (about 3 hours). Day 3: Visit Yellow Dragon Cave in the morning, which takes about 2 hours. A park guide is required. The tour includes walking, a boat ride, and stairs. Be cautious as the ground is slippery. There’s a luminous pearl shop midway (bargain for better prices; items outside the park are cheaper). Have lunch across the park entrance and take the high-speed train at around 3 PM to Furong Town. Arrive in about half an hour. Visit the waterfall during day and night, then explore both sides of the river. You can finish exploring in about an hour. Day 4: Take the 11:05 AM high-speed train to Fenghuang Ancient Town. It’s much larger than Furong Town! In the evening, find a bar to relax and enjoy the river view. Day 5: Originally planned to visit Miao Village, but a friend didn’t want to go due to the heat. Instead, we went karaoke for 5 hours ($68). Take the high-speed train back to Hong Kong in the afternoon. 🏨 Accommodation Recommendations: Orange Hotel Seven Points Homestay (affordable, very clean, and the driver and staff are extremely friendly). 🍴 Food Recommendations: 📌 Useful Tips: Eat before entering the 72 Wonders Building; prices inside are much cheaper than outside. High-speed train stations may not have suitable dining options or may be closed. Use the 12306 app to pre-order meals or buy food beforehand. We bought food near the hotel. Souvenirs in Fenghuang Ancient Town are cheaper than in Zhangjiajie.
