Le Puy-en-Velay is located in the south-central part of France, serving as the capital of the Haute-Loire department in the Auvergne region. It is a city in south-central France with a unique charm. The local rich cultural life, museums filled with extensive exhibits, and the tranquil countryside also attract many visitors. The most famous local attraction is the Le Puy Cathedral, whose history dates back to the first half of the 12th century and has long been a center of pilgrimage. It is a national historical monument of France and was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site in 1998 as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela. The colorful corridors connect the remains of the 13th-century fortress, which separates the cathedral area from the rest of the city. The statue of the Virgin Mary, built in the 19th century, overlooks the entire city and is also a famous landmark of the area. The majestic Saint Michel's Chapel stands on a nearby high peak, built in the 10th century, it is an excellent place to view Le Puy. The narrow ascending passage at the entrance of the chapel, with its large columns adorned with Islamic-style decorations, and the winding cloisters, give a sense of a secluded path. The chapel's interior features unique and ancient frescoes and murals that offer endless imagination and admiration for the ancient stories.

Le Puy is famous for its lace breakdown. That's why there is a lace museum and a school in Le Puy that teaches how to make lace using traditional methods. When you come down to the old town, you can see many shops that display lace crafts. They say that they still make and sell lace using traditional methods in order to continue the tradition.
