Milan travel guide and discussion

🤍 Honestly, I don’t think it’s overrated — but I do think you need to plan your visit properly to enjoy it. The lake views, charming little towns, colourful houses and mountains in the background really are as beautiful as they look in photos. Bellagio and Varenna are especially lovely to wander around, and taking a ferry across the lake is an experience in itself. That said, it can get pretty crowded during peak season, and getting between towns takes more time than you might expect. If you’re coming all the way from Milan for a day trip, you’ll want to choose your stops wisely rather than trying to squeeze everything in. #overratedspots

Imagine buying an apartment with a tree right outside your window, only to find out you aren't allowed to touch it. Welcome to Bosco Verticale, the "Vertical Forest" in Milan. These two residential towers by Boeri Studio opened in 2014, and they host about 800 trees. But the most interesting part begins with a simple question: who takes care of all this? The gardeners arrive by air. Specialists known as "Flying Gardeners" work on the facades using ropes and safety harnesses. They prune the canopies and check the plants. The irrigation is centralized and managed remotely, so you can't just go on vacation and forget to water your forest. What's more, according to the project's creators, the greenery belongs to all residents. An individual owner cannot remove or replace a plant on their own. The tree becomes part of the building's collective rules. As an architect, I’m fascinated by a facade that can never be "finished" once and for all. Usually, we choose a material and imagine how the building will look right after construction. Here, you have to think about what it will become once the canopies grow—where the sun will fall, what will be framed in the windows, and how to reach the branches. The plants are distributed based on the lighting of the facades. Behind the apparent freedom of this forest lies a very organized existence. My advice: don't limit yourself to a photo from below. Step back to see both towers. Then, look closely at the protruding balconies, the planters, and the windows tucked behind the foliage. It’s in the details that you see how trees and apartments share the same home. This is a residential complex, so plan your visit for the exterior. I have a question for you: would you want a tree outside your window several stories up? Even if its fate had to be decided together with your neighbors? More on the NASAVI | TRAVEL channel.

If you think Milan is only about the Duomo, luxury shopping, and high-fashion streets, you have to visit Castello Sforzesco. This massive fortress right in the city center makes you feel like you’ve suddenly stepped into another era. The best part? You can enter the castle’s inner courtyards for free and take a peaceful stroll among the towers, massive walls, and ancient architecture. Currently, the castle houses several museums, where you can see Michelangelo’s famous unfinished masterpiece, the Pietà Rondanini. 💡 Tip: I’d recommend pairing the castle with Parco Sempione and the Arco della Pace—it makes for a beautiful walking route that’s almost a straight line. The courtyards are open daily from approximately 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, and the museums are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. ⭐ My rating: 10/10. It’s a fantastic spot if you want to see a side of Milan that is historic and grand, not just polished and fashionable.

If you think every Starbucks is more or less the same, the Starbucks Reserve Roastery Milano will quickly change your mind. This isn’t your average coffee shop; it’s a massive roastery housed in a historic building on Piazza Cordusio, just a short walk from the Duomo. The Milan Roastery opened in 2018 as Italy’s first-ever Starbucks. The brand itself considers it one of its most stunning locations in Europe. Built in 1901, the building once served as a post office. Inside, you can witness almost the entire coffee production process: a massive green roaster, tubes transporting beans overhead, a packaging line, and a central bronze structure standing about 6.5 meters tall. There’s even a mechanical flip-board showing which coffee is being roasted in real-time. The interior is a masterpiece in its own right: Tuscan marble counters, hand-laid mosaic floors, and an atmosphere that feels more like a high-end Italian restaurant or a museum. 💡 Pro-tip: Even if you’re not a Starbucks regular, this place is worth a visit. Located right in the heart of the city at Piazza Cordusio, it’s easy to swing by while visiting the Duomo or strolling through the center. ⭐ My rating: 10/10. It’s one of those places where you go in for a coffee but spend the next half hour just staring at the decor and taking videos.

Planning a romantic getaway to Italy? But if you aren't well-prepared, your honeymoon could quickly turn into a disaster! Here is my personally compiled list of the top 10 most common pitfalls, covering everything from pre-trip prep to street-level theft prevention. Save these Italian travel tips now to ensure your trip to Italy goes smoothly! 🛑 Part 1: Preparation – What You Don't Know Can Hurt You · 1. Forgetting to "Validate" Your Tickets: If you bought a physical train or bus ticket, you must stamp it at the small yellow or green machines on the platform or inside the carriage to print the date. No stamp is the same as having no ticket—if you're caught, you'll be fined dozens of euros! · 2. Booking Popular Attractions Too Late: For the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, Florence’s Uffizi Gallery, etc., you need to book online at least 1 to 2 months in advance. If you try to queue up on the day, you could wait for 3 hours or even be turned away. · 3. The City "Rests" on Sundays: Many restaurants and supermarkets in small towns do not open on Sundays and Mondays. Plan your itinerary to avoid these major days, otherwise, it will be hard to even buy a bottle of water. · 4. The Restaurant "Cover Charge" (Coperto): As long as you sit down to eat, a "cover/bread charge" of €2-€5 per person will appear on your bill. This is a normal fee, not a scam. If you want to save money, you can learn from the locals and drink your coffee standing up. · 5. Inappropriate Attire for Churches: When visiting the Vatican or major cathedrals in summer, exposing shoulders or knees is strictly forbidden. Remember to carry a large silk scarf to wrap yourself before entering, otherwise, you will be denied entry. 🚨 Part 2: Street Theft Prevention – Practical Strategies · 6. The Friendship Bracelet Scam: Near the Milan Cathedral and Roman landmarks, people often try to force bracelets on your wrist or shove birdseed into your hands. Whatever you do, don't reach out, don't make eye contact—just say "No" and walk away. Otherwise, you'll be aggressively pressured for €20-€50! · 7. "Helpful" People Assisting with Luggage: At train stations (especially Rome Termini or Milan Central), people may offer to help lift your luggage onto the train or use the ticket machine. These all require tips. Refuse decisively to protect your wallet. · 8. The Classic "Spill/Drop" Distraction: A common thief's trick: accidentally spilling coffee on you or dropping keys in front of you. While you're distracted, their accomplice has already stolen your backpack. If a sudden situation occurs, hold your bag tight immediately. · 9. Crowding on Public Transport: Rome's Bus 64 (to the Vatican) and Metro Lines A and B are breeding grounds for thieves. They like to squeeze against you as the doors close. Always wear your bag in front and protect the zipper with your hand. · 10. Photo Traps and Fake Police: Actors in ancient Roman attire at the Colosseum will charge exorbitant prices after taking a photo with you; there are also fake police who steal money under the guise of checking passports. Remember never to hand your passport to a stranger. 💡 Recommended Anti-Theft Gear: · An essential anti-theft waist pouch (hidden money belt) to keep large amounts of cash and your passport close to your body. · Always use a phone lanyard and hang it around you to prevent "drive-by" snatchers from grabbing it while you're taking photos! Wishing everyone a safe and happy Italian holiday! ✨

Just returned from Italy! I honestly don't want too many people to know how incredible Italy is in September–October! The autumn weather is mild and comfortable, there are far fewer tourists, flight and hotel prices are lower, and the sun is gentle without being scorching! The autumn scenery of the old towns, artistic architecture, and authentic food are all on point. It is truly the golden time of the year for travel✨ ✨Reasons to visit September–October is the top off-peak travel season in Italy! Say goodbye to the scorching summer heat and the massive crowds. The ancient monuments of Rome are quiet, Florence is rich with autumn vibes, and the breeze in Venice is gentle, coinciding with the wine harvest season. You can immerse yourself in the heritage of the Renaissance while taking your time to explore the old towns and enjoy the food. It's the ultimate relaxing experience! 💰Total budget for 1 person for 6 days and 5 nights (excluding international flights) | ¥4,200 5 nights' accommodation: ¥2,000 Meals: ¥1,100 Intercity + local transport: ¥650 Attraction tickets and miscellaneous fees: ¥450 🚗Transportation tips🚙 For intercity travel, prioritize Italy's high-speed rail🚄. A one-way ticket from Rome to Florence is ¥120. It's fast and hassle-free. A single subway ride in the city is ¥18, and a 24-hour pass is ¥45, which is a great deal for exploring the old town. For short distances, don't hail taxis on the street as they are overpriced. Prioritize public transport + walking, as most old town attractions are concentrated in one area. Don't pack your intercity itinerary too tightly; spend a day slowly exploring each city for a better experience. 🏨Accommodation recommendations by area🏡 ▪Rome Old Town🔥¥380–500/night Close to the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. You're right next to the monuments, making it super convenient for night sightseeing. A top choice for first-time visitors. ▪Florence City Center ¥350–480/night Very close to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with plenty of small eateries nearby and a strong artistic atmosphere. ▪Venice Main Island waterfront guesthouse ¥400–550/night Open the window to a water view. Sitting down to eat or drink around historical monuments is prohibited. You will be fined for violations, so don't take the risk. 2. High-speed rail and bus tickets must be validated before boarding. Failure to validate will result in a heavy fine. 3. Be cautious about buying overly bright, "Instagrammable" ice cream on the street; most are artificial and taste average. 4. If someone proactively approaches you at tourist spots to help take photos or give directions, they will likely charge you. Refuse firmly. 💡Travel tips Be sure to book popular attractions online in advance; tickets are rarely available on-site during peak season. There is a large temperature difference between day and night in September–October, so wear short sleeves during the day and bring a light jacket for the evening. Most public restrooms charge a fee; you can buy a coffee at a shop to use their restroom for free. 💬A few thoughts Italy in the autumn is truly romantic to the core💫! Rich artistic heritage, gentle autumn scenery in the old towns, and Western food you never get tired of. Avoid the crowds, enjoy friendly prices, and no need to rush like a "special forces" traveler—just walking around feels like a scene from a movie. If you want to embark on a relaxing and high-end European trip, Italy in September–October is a no-brainer!

Milan is easy to associate with the Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and busy shopping streets, but I found a quieter side of the city by wandering without much of a plan. My first surprise was Villa Invernizzi in Porta Venezia. You can’t enter the private garden, but I stopped outside to peek through the gates and spotted the famous pink flamingos wandering around the pond. It was such an unexpected sight in the middle of Milan. Then I found Via Lincoln, a colorful little residential street often compared to Burano. The pastel houses, tiny gardens, and balconies made it feel completely different from the elegant Milan I had seen around the center. My favorite discovery was Casa Museo Boschi Di Stefano, a former home filled with more than 300 works of 20th century Italian art. Best of all, admission is free. After seeing Navigli and Brera, these quieter places gave me a different impression of Milan less polished, more local, and much more surprising. #milan #italy

Canals, old houses with balconies, vintage shops, bars, and aperitivo right by the water. During the day, Navigli is perfect for a stroll, but in the evening, the area comes alive and becomes one of Milan's premier aperitivo spots. 📍 What to see: · Naviglio Grande — the main promenade along the canal · Darsena — the former city port, especially beautiful at sunset · Vicolo dei Lavandai — a small historic alley with an old laundromat · Naviglio Pavese — a quieter part of the neighborhood for a stroll · Basilica di Sant'Eustorgio — one of the oldest churches in Milan · Colonne di San Lorenzo — Roman columns and one of the most pleasant places for an evening stroll 🍸 Where to drink: MAG Café — atmospheric cocktails and a very Milanese vibe Rita — one of the most famous cocktail bars in the neighborhood Backdoor43 — a tiny bar for a few people, a real curiosity Ugo Cocktail Bar — a beautiful place for an evening drink 🍝 Where to eat: El Brellin — Milanese cuisine in an atmospheric location by the canal Osteria del Binari — traditional Italian cuisine and a large interior Berberè courtyard - if you want a good pizza without a long dinner 🛍️ If you love vintage: just stroll along the Naviglio Grande and pop into the small vintage and second-hand shops. On the last Sunday of the month, the large Mercatone dell'Antiquariato, an antique market along the canal, takes place here. 🌅 The ideal plan: arrive about an hour before sunset → stroll along the Naviglio Grande → stop at Vicolo dei Lavandai → watch the sunset at Darsena → aperitivo → dinner and an evening stroll along the canal. If you only have one time to visit the Naviglio, come in the evening. That's when the canals, lights, and bustling bars create that perfect Milanese vibe. ✨

Milan is different. Grand cathedrals. World-famous fashion. Historic neighbourhoods. Italian food. And a skyline that's becoming more futuristic every year. Italy's style capital blends centuries of history with modern design in a way that feels completely its own. If you're visiting for the first time, these are the 6 places I'd put at the top of your list. ⛪ 1. MILAN CATHEDRAL Start with the city's masterpiece. The Duomo di Milano is one of the largest cathedrals in the world, covered in thousands of statues and intricate details. But don't just admire it from the square. Climb up to the rooftop terraces and walk among the spires for one of Milan's most unforgettable views. Best for: Architecture, history & photography. 🎨 2. THE LAST SUPPER One of the world's most famous paintings is hidden inside the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper was painted in the late 15th century and remains one of Milan's most important cultural treasures. Tickets are limited, so plan ahead. Best for: Art, history & culture. 🏛️ 3. GALLERIA VITTORIO EMANUELE II Step into one of Italy's most beautiful shopping arcades. The Galleria connects Piazza del Duomo with Piazza della Scala beneath an enormous glass-and-iron roof. You'll find luxury boutiques, historic cafés and one of Milan's most iconic interiors. And yes, stop to look up. Best for: Architecture, shopping & people-watching. 🌳 4. SEMPIONE PARK & SFORZA CASTLE For a change of pace, head behind the centre of the city. Sforza Castle is an enormous historic fortress surrounded by museums and gardens, while nearby Sempione Park gives you plenty of space to escape the busy streets. It's one of the easiest places to combine history and a little relaxation. Best for: History, walking & green space. 🏘️ 5. NAVIGLI Then head to Milan's canals. Navigli is one of the city's most atmospheric neighbourhoods, with colourful buildings, waterside restaurants, bars and cafés lining the canals. Come in the evening when the streets fill with people and the reflections start appearing on the water. Best for: Aperitivo, nightlife & atmosphere. 🏙️ 6. BRERA Finish in one of Milan's most charming neighbourhoods. Brera is filled with cobbled streets, elegant buildings, independent boutiques, galleries and restaurants. Take your time here. There's no landmark you need to rush towards. The neighbourhood itself is the attraction. Best for: Shopping, food & wandering. 🔥 THE MILAN SIX ⛪ Milan Cathedral — The icon 🎨 The Last Supper — The masterpiece 🏛️ Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II — The elegance 🌳 Sempione Park & Sforza Castle — The escape 🏘️ Navigli — The nightlife 🏙️ Brera — The charm Six places. And somehow they still only scratch the surface. Because Milan isn't really about ticking off landmarks. It's about espresso at the bar. A slow evening aperitivo. Walking through streets where centuries-old buildings sit beside modern design. And disco

Planning a Switzerland trip and feeling overwhelmed by all the options? Start here. If it were my first time visiting Switzerland, this is the exact route I’d follow: 10 days, entirely by train, with the perfect mix of cities, lakes, mountain villages, and some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen. 📍 Zurich (2 days) Stroll the Old Town, cruise Lake Zurich, and visit the Lindt Home of Chocolate. 📍 Lucerne (2 days) Explore the charming lakefront city, then spend a day riding boats, cogwheel trains, and cable cars up Mount Rigi. 📍 Interlaken (3 days) Use it as your Swiss Alps base while exploring Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, & other mountain villages. 📍 St. Moritz (1-2 nights) A great jumping off point for the grand finale. In between, take the Bernina Express through the Alps - easily one of the most breathtaking train journeys in Europe! From there, you can either continue on to Milan for an Italy trip or return to Zurich for your flight home. This route gives you iconic Swiss views & a diverse mix of city and mountains!

#easytravelpost Seriously being here makes me feel how Italian living their “la dolce vita” kind of lifestyle. It just took me a one hour road-day trip from Milan. I stepped off the ferry onto the cobblestones of Varenna, feeling every bit of the slow paced Mediterranean dream. Traveling here is entirely effortless because the lake sets the rhythm for you. There is no frantic itinerary or checking off boxes, just smooth waters framed by towering cypress trees and dramatic alpine slopes. Taking your slow time one pace at a time. I spent my mornings gliding across the water on the local ferries, effortlessly hopping between Bellagio and quiet lakeside promenades, taking in grand waterfront villas that look straight out of a classic movie set. It is the kind of destination where doing absolutely nothing feels like the most luxurious plan. What makes this place so ridiculously easy to navigate is how seamless everything feels. A single whole lake ferry day pass for around €23.60 lets you drift from one pastel village to another whenever the mood strikes. To explore the iconic botanical gardens at Villa Monastero, an entry ticket is just €10 to €13, giving you hours to wander through blooming wisteria and historic stone terraces at your own pace. Payments everywhere are completely hassle free, as contactless card payments are accepted almost everywhere, from ticket booths to tiny gelato spots tucked down hidden alleyways. I loved just grabbing a bench by the shore, listening to the gentle lap of the water against stone docks, and soaking in that unmistakable Italian warmth. By late afternoon, the lake takes on a golden glow that makes you want to sit back and stay forever. Easy traveling here means sitting at a waterside bistro with a glass of local wine, watching classic wooden speedboats carve quiet paths across the water while the sun dips behind the mountains. You never have to rush for a taxi or worry about navigation because every scenic boat route brings you right where you want to be. Lake Como gives you permission to slow down, breathe deep, and embrace a lifestyle where simple moments and stunning views are all that matter. How easy it is to just feel one with such view. Totally an unforgettable experience. #LakeComo #EasyTravel #LaDolceVita #ItalyTravel #SlowTravel #LakeComoVibes #TravelInStyle

If you’re looking for something completely different from the usual Milanese restaurant, La Sidreria is a place worth discovering. Tucked away in the Lambrate area, this cozy trattoria has one very unusual specialty: cider! 🍏 The concept is simple and incredibly fun: a fixed-price all-you-can-eat menu, with the cider included. Even better, you can serve yourself from a huge wooden barrel and try different types of cider throughout the evening. 🍺🍎 The food changes every month and mixes traditional Italian comfort food with creative touches. Recent dishes have included beef tartare with Granny Smith apples, porcini mushroom risotto, meatballs, Frico and desserts such as apple and Calvados creations. 😋 What I particularly love is the atmosphere. It feels much more like a friendly countryside trattoria than a typical Milan restaurant, with different cozy rooms, a veranda and a garden area. It’s the kind of place that works especially well with friends, when you want a relaxed evening full of food, drinks and conversation. 💡 Tip: La Sidreria is perfect if you enjoy trying several dishes rather than ordering just one plate. And if you’re a vegetarian or vegan, they also offer a dedicated vegan menu. 📍 La Sidreria – Via Arcangelo Corelli 31, Milan Would you try an all-you-can-eat Italian dinner with unlimited cider? 🍎👇 #milan #milano #lasidreria #milanrestaurants #milanfood #italytravel #italianfood #foodie #cider #hiddengem #thingstodoinmilan #travelitaly #tripcom #visitmilan

I initially thought Lihpao OUTLET MALL was just a shopping center for bargains, but once I stepped inside, I realized it’s more like a vacation destination that packs an Italian town, family entertainment, gourmet restaurants, and massive amusement rides all into one. With vibrant buildings, a lakeside water show, a clock tower, and a giant Ferris wheel appearing all at once, my camera was clicking away before I even started shopping! 🎡 Located in Houli, Taichung, Lihpao OUTLET MALL is a key feature of the Lihpao Resort. The mall’s first phase began trial operations in December 2016 and officially opened in January 2017. Zones A and B are designed after "Portofino," an Italian coastal town, featuring bright yellow, orange, and pink walls paired with arches and outdoor streets. It truly feels like a Southern European holiday on a sunny day. As visitor numbers grew, the second phase opened in early 2020. Zones C and D draw inspiration from Northern Italy’s "Lake Como," adding a central waterway, lakeside plaza, clock tower, and high-ceilinged galleries. The interior spaces reference the lighting and architectural atmosphere of Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. With both phases complete, the total operating area reaches 11 hectares, forming a massive complex for shopping, movies, dining, and family fun. The Taichung City Government has also documented the development of this second phase. The mall currently hosts about 240 stores, ranging from sports and leisure, fashion, bags and shoes, to lifestyle brands, baby products, and entertainment. While you can indeed find discounts at the outlet, not every item is necessarily cheaper than online or department store promotions. It’s recommended to check the original price, the discounted price, and the return policy first. Some counters offer "buy two for extra discounts" or member-exclusive deals. If you're not in a hurry, comparing a few shops usually helps you dig up the best deals. 🛍️ In my opinion, the most photogenic spot at Lihpao Outlet isn't just the eye-catching "Sky Dream" Ferris wheel; the Lake Como Plaza in Zones C and D is also well worth a stop. A European-style Starbucks clock tower stands in the middle of the waterway, looking romantic against the blue sky and its own reflection by day, while taking on a warm fairytale glow once the lights come on in the evening. According to the mall's official schedule, the Lake Como water show performs every hour from 12:00 to 20:00, with a light show scheduled on the hour from 19:00 to 20:00. Please check on-site for the latest daily announcements. If you want to sit down and rest, head to the "Starbucks Lihpao Clock Tower Store," also located at No. 201 Furong Road, Houli District, Taichung City, inside the mall. The clock tower exterior is far more iconic than your average coffee chain. However, it gets crowded during peak hours. For cleaner photos, try visiting on a weekday morning or before sunset. The mall also features a large food court and several themed restaurants, so you don't need to drive out to find food when you're tired from walking. The "Sky Dream" Ferris wheel next to the mall is Lihpao’s most recognizable landmark, visible from the highway. Riding the Ferris wheel offers a bird's-eye view of Lihpao Land, Houli’s cityscape, and the distant mountain ranges—it's particularly beautiful from dusk to night. According to official pricing for September 2026, a full-fare ticket for a standard cabin is NT$350, with a weekday adult discount of NT$250. There are separate tickets for children and seniors; actual prices and operating hours are subject to Sky Dream's official announcements. Lihpao OUTLET MALL is also a very comprehensive family and pet-friendly destination. The service desk offers rentals for strollers, children's carts, wheelchairs, and pet strollers. Inside, you'll find children's play areas, family restrooms, nursing rooms, and pet activity zones. However, pets must remain in a carrier or stroller when entering indoor areas and are not allowed on the floor. Be sure to check the latest mall regulations before you go. 🐶 For an overnight stay, you can choose "Fullon Hotel Lihpao Land" at No. 88 Furong Road, Houli District, Taichung; another option is "Lihpao T11 T12 Hotel" at No. 197 Yuemei South Road. Staying within the resort allows you to space out visits to Discovery World, Mala Bay, Lihpao International Circuit, the Sky Dream Ferris wheel, and the Outlet, making for a much more relaxed travel pace. Reasons to recommend Lihpao OUTLET MALL: ① Free entry to the mall—no pressure to pay for browsing, walking, or photos ② Around 240 stores offering a wide range of fashion, food, and entertainment ③ Distinct Italian town style; the Lake Como area and clock tower are incredibly photogenic ④ Can be combined with the Ferris wheel, theme parks, circuit, and hotels for a two-day trip ⑤ Complete family and pet facilities; fun for all ages ⑥ European streetscapes for sunny days and large indoor areas for rainy days For transportation, those driving can take the Houli/Waipu exit from National Highway 1 and follow the signs for about 3 minutes to arrive. Car parking is NT$40 per hour, with 1 hour free for every NT$500 spent at the Outlet, Lihpao Rest Area, or Sky Dream (up to 6 hours). The daily maximum after discounts is NT$200. Scooters are NT$50 per visit. For public transport, take a free shuttle from Houli Train Station or a bus from Fengyuan or Taichung HSR Station. There is also a free shuttle between Lihpao Outlet and Taichung Chaoma, but frequency is limited, so check the official schedule before departing. The most appealing thing about Lihpao OUTLET MALL is that it doesn't bore those who aren't planning to shop. Some come for the deals, some to let their kids burn off energy, and some just for the water show, clock tower, and Ferris wheel. I suggest setting aside at least half a day; if you want to ride the Ferris wheel or visit the park, a full day would be better. #easytravelpost Flew Emirates business class from Kuala Lumpur to Milan (via Dubai) for RM11,000 per person — booked November 2025 for a May 2026 trip. Here's the full breakdown of what that fare included. ✈️ Flights EK0343 KL→Dubai 02:00-05:05 (A380) EK0205 Dubai→Milan 09:10-14:10 (A380) EK092 Milan→Dubai 22:20-06:25 (A380) EK343 Dubai→KL 10:25-21:50 (Boeing 777 New) 💺 Seat: Fully flat with great privacy. Window seats are the better pick — noticeably more storage space. 🍽️ Food: Meals on flights departing KL were the standout (home advantage, naturally). The other legs were decent, though I personally lean toward more Asian-style food. Since all flights fell in the morning, breakfast was served on all four legs, with lunch added on the Dubai–Milan and Dubai–KL sectors. 🧳 Baggage: 40kg allowance 🛋️ Lounges: KLIA1 Emirates Global Lounge (near gates C21-C27) — spacious and well-equipped Dubai lounge was the smaller one — no direct boarding from the lounge, and shower facilities were limited. Book your shower slot as soon as you arrive if that's a priority. 🍸 An extensive drinks selection onboard — the espresso martini from the business class bar was a highlight. 🚗 Chauffeur service included both ways: home to KLIA in KL, and Milan airport to hotel. 💰 We booked the business class saver fare — not the cheapest tier, but chosen specifically for lounge access and chauffeur service. Was it worth RM11,000? For the seat comfort, lounge access, and door-to-door service — yes. Happy to answer any questions on booking timing or route specifics in the comments.

October 2026 is a great time to save on flights across Europe. Budget airlines are launching new routes and running promotions, while demand drops after the summer peak and that works in your favour. 🌍 Top Airlines and October Trends 🍁EasyJet is launching 9 new routes at the end of October. For example, London to Ljubljana (from €40) and Reykjavik (from €27.17). 🍁Wizz Air is opening a new Dortmund–Rome route starting 25 October. Launch price: €29.99 — a great deal for flying into Italy in autumn. 🍁Fly2Galicia — a new budget airline starting flights from Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Tickets to Milan, Brussels, and Prague start from €39–51, and domestic Spanish routes from €19. 🎯 What to Look For in October · New routes — launch prices are usually lower (easyJet, Wizz Air). · Direct flights — no layovers. Volotea offers Rome–Bilbao from €24 and Lisbon–Alicante from €19. · Destinations where prices drop in autumn: Albania, Romania, Bulgaria, and Sweden. · Sample October 2026 prices: Stockholm (from €36), Milan (from €52), Dublin (from €46), Barcelona (from €48). 💡 How to Find the Cheapest Flights · Watch for sales and new routes on airline websites. · Be flexible with dates — midweek flights are often cheaper. · Budget fares usually don't include checked baggage only a small carry-on. · The lowest prices are limited book early. #travel2026 #autumn

Milan is often treated as a quick stop between Italy's more famous destinations. That's a mistake. Yes, the Duomo is spectacular. But Milan's real personality appears when you move beyond the obvious sights — into elegant neighbourhoods, hidden courtyards, design districts and buzzing aperitivo bars. ☀️ Best time to visit April–June and September–October are ideal for exploring the city on foot. Milan can become hot and humid in summer, while spring and autumn offer comfortable temperatures for spending long days outdoors. Fashion Week periods can also make the city particularly busy. 🍝 One local food worth trying Try risotto alla Milanese. The creamy rice is traditionally flavoured with saffron, giving it its distinctive golden colour. For something more substantial, look for ossobuco, a slow-cooked veal dish that is another Milanese classic. 📸 Best photo location Head to the Brera district. Its elegant streets, colourful façades and beautiful architecture offer a very different photographic experience from the monumental Duomo. For skyline views, the rooftop terraces around the Duomo are particularly impressive near sunset. 💰 Smart money-saving tip Use Milan's excellent public transport instead of relying on taxis. The metro makes it easy to move between the historic centre, neighbourhoods and train stations, while walking is often the best option once you're in a particular district. For food, step away from the immediate Duomo area before choosing a restaurant. 🤫 Hidden gem Explore Porta Venezia. Behind its grand architecture you'll find independent cafés, restaurants, boutiques and colourful streets with a more relaxed local atmosphere. It's particularly enjoyable in the late afternoon before heading out for dinner. 👀 Another hidden gem Look for San Bernardino alle Ossa. This small historic church near the city centre is known for its unusual ossuary chapel, whose walls are decorated with human bones and skulls. It's certainly not a conventional Milan attraction. ❌ Tourist mistake #1 Only visiting Milan as a day trip. You can see the major landmarks quickly, but staying overnight gives you time to experience the city after the sightseeing crowds disappear. Milan's evenings are a big part of its personality. ❌ Tourist mistake #2 Eating dinner too early. Milan's aperitivo culture is part of the experience. Around early evening, bars fill with locals meeting for drinks and small plates before dinner. Take your time and enjoy the ritual rather than rushing straight to a restaurant. 💡 Local tip Spend an evening in Navigli. The canals, bridges, bars and restaurants become especially atmospheric as the lights come on. It's busy, but instead of treating it as another attraction to photograph, sit beside the water and experience Milan's social side. Milan isn't Italy's ancient postcard. It's stylish, creative and constantly moving. Come for the Duomo. Stay for the aperitivo. And give the city enough t

Even if I would personally recommend to spend more than one day in this incredibly beautiful Italian city, often compared to Paris for its elegance and architecture, your visit can also be the perfect easy day trip from Milan, to enjoy and admire another stunning destination while having limited time in the country! Spend one day in Turin, the first capital of Italy, rich in culture, history and beauty, just a short train or bus ride away from Milan! After reaching Porta nuova station, walk along Via Roma, the main shopping street in town and enjoy the buildings, squares and fountains along it before starting your day visit in Piazza Castello, the heart of the city, its main square, where the royal palace is located, to see the stunning baroque architecture. Walk to the nearby Palatine Gate to view almost perfectly preserved Roman ruins. Head inside the Royal Palace of Turin and/or step into the adjacent Turin Cathedral to view the home of the Holy Shroud (the relic itself is not on display), note that the royal palace gardens are free to access!! Stop for a morning coffee at a historic spot like Caffè al Bicerin to try layers of espresso, chocolate, and milk, or Baratti e Milano, for the most luxurious coffee experience in town! After a traditional lunch in one of the numerous "Piola" of the city, where you can enjoy specialties like truffle pasta or raw beef, walk over to the Mole Antonelliana tower, simbol of the city and iconic part of its skyline, which houses the National Museum of Cinema. Ride the glass elevator up the Mole Antonelliana for sweeping panoramic views of the city and the distant Alps. Walk down the elegant, portico-lined Via Po as it leads toward Piazza Vittorio Veneto on the edge of the Po River. Cross the river or stay on the banks to enjoy a relaxing aperitivo before heading up to the terrace at Monte dei Cappuccini for the perfect sunset views above the city center. Sit down for a traditional Piedmontese dinner featuring local pasta favorites like agnolotti. And there you have the perfect easy day trip from Milan, now you've seen one of the most underrated hidden gem cities in Italy and you can head back to Milan by train or bus, or choose to spend the night and keep enjoying the many other things that Turin has to offer! 📍 Turin #underratedspots #travel2026 #travel #couplestrip #thingstodo #familytravel #museums #myitinerary #citydaytours #italy #turin #milan #daytrip #italytravel #localfood

#summerbeachnights #summerbeachnights Before visiting Amalfi, I thought I knew exactly what I was going there for: the famous cliffside views, the blue Mediterranean, colorful houses stacked above the sea, and that postcard-perfect coastline everyone recognizes instantly. And yes, all of that was beautiful. But strangely, the part I remember most happened later, when the day started winding down. During the afternoon, Amalfi felt almost too full of things to look at. Boats were constantly moving across the water, people were stopping in the middle of narrow streets to take photos, tables outside cafés were filling up, and everywhere I looked there seemed to be another staircase, another balcony, another tiny street disappearing between old buildings. I walked toward the center without much of a plan and eventually ended up near the cathedral square. There were baskets of lemons outside small shops, people sitting with gelato, café tables spilling onto the pavement, and that warm Italian summer noise of conversations coming from every direction. Then I saw one of those giant Amalfi lemons being served with lemon gelato inside. Of course I had to try it. It was messy, slightly ridiculous to carry around, and probably one of the most touristy things I did on the trip — but somehow it became one of my favorite memories. I walked through the narrow streets with melting lemon gelato in my hand while the temperature finally started dropping. That was when Amalfi began to change. The intense afternoon light softened. Shop windows started glowing. Restaurants turned on their little lamps. The stone streets became warmer in color, and people who had spent the day rushing between ferries and viewpoints suddenly seemed to slow down. Eventually I found myself back near the sea. The coastline looked completely different from earlier. During the day, Amalfi had felt dramatic — cliffs, blue water, boats, crowds, movement. At dusk, it felt intimate. Lights appeared one by one across the hillside. Restaurants along the waterfront became brighter as the sky became darker. The sea reflected small streaks of yellow light, and the colorful buildings above looked almost like they were floating on the mountain. That was the moment I understood why I wouldn’t recommend visiting Amalfi only as a quick daytime stop. You really need to see what happens after the beach bags start disappearing. For me, Amalfi was beautiful during the day, but the evening was when I actually fell in love with it. And I still can’t decide which memory wins: swimming beneath the cliffs or wandering through town with lemon gelato as the lights came on. So I’m curious: If you only had a few hours in Amalfi, would you choose a bright Mediterranean afternoon or stay for the summer night atmosphere? #summerbeachnights #amalfi #amalficoast #italy #italytravel #mediterranean #travelstory #summerinitaly #italiansummer #travelcommunity

If you're planning a trip to Milan, the Naviglio Canal is an absolute must for your itinerary. It’s always a chic neighborhood, but visiting on one specific day of the week takes the fun to a whole new level! 📍 Just a 3-minute walk from Porta Genova Station on the Metro Green Line (M2) 📅 Aim for the [Last "Sunday" of Every Month] Milan's largest flea market (antique market) takes place along the Naviglio Canal on the last Sunday of every month. And grab some fresh, delicious handmade gelato for the kids! 🍨 💡 Quick Tips for the Best Experience · Go in the morning: It gets super packed after noon. Aim for 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. If the crowds get to be too much, just duck into a side street to find some peace and quiet. · Watch out for pickpockets!: Since it's so crowded, pickpockets are everywhere. Always carry your bag securely in front of you. · Bring some cash (coins): While more places accept credit cards now, having a few euros in coins makes buying from small stalls a breeze. If your Milan trip happens to fall on the last Sunday of the month, you absolutely have to check out Naviglio!

Milan’s iconic central pair, the Duomo di Milano and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, sit side‑by‑side at the beating commercial and cultural heart of the city, forming one of Europe’s most visited urban plazas. The Milan Cathedral, or Duomo di Milano in the first photo, is Italy’s grandest Gothic church, built over nearly six centuries starting in 1386. Its pale Candoglia marble facade is densely packed with over 3400 carved statues, intricate lace‑like stone tracery and more than one hundred tapering spires that stab skywards. Standing in the vast open Piazza del Duomo, you feel the overwhelming scale of this masterpiece. Climbing its rooftop terrace lets visitors walk among the spires for sweeping city views, an unmissable highlight of any Milan visit. Directly connected to the cathedral square by a grand archway is Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, pictured in the second shot. Opened in 1865, it is the world’s oldest active covered shopping arcade, a dazzling glass‑and‑iron vaulted passageway crowned by a huge curved glass dome. Ornate frescoed murals decorate its upper walls, while the ground‑floor arcades host legendary luxury fashion houses including Versace, Prada and Louis Vuitton, alongside historic cafés that have served Milanese high society for generations. The space transforms during festive seasons, with giant decorated Christmas trees and holiday installations drawing huge crowds, as seen in this photograph. These two landmarks define central Milan. The cathedral represents centuries of religious ambition and late‑Gothic artistry, while the galleria symbolises modern elegance, fashion and public urban life. The short connecting passage between them makes it possible to move from medieval grandeur straight into 19th‑century opulence in just a few steps. Beyond sightseeing, this district is the starting point for exploring Milan’s fashion‑focused city centre, with the fashionable Brera and Montenapoleone districts within easy walking distance. Pro tips · Book Duomo rooftop tickets in advance to skip long ground‑floor queues · The galleria is free to enter; arrive early if you wish to photograph it with fewer crowds · Rub the bull’s testicles on the galleria’s mosaic floor, a famous local folk ritual said to bring good fortune #milan #duomodimilano #galleriavittorioemanuele
