The town is small, with mountains, water, supermarkets, shops and a circular train, where you can spend half a day. After getting off the boat, you can walk along the coast to the entrance of Mount Mauganui. There are two trails, one of which leads to the top of the mountain for about 40 minutes. The other road is flatter and leads to the bay. It takes about an hour to complete this mountain trail. The road is not too steep and it is easy to walk on. You can go up the mountain from both sides. There is Pilot Bay Beach nearby with beautiful scenery. Along the way you can admire the Tangaroa statue and take beautiful photos. You can swim and play water activities at Pilot bay beach, which is very comfortable and relaxing.

New Zealand - here we go again!! I love this country and I keep coming back as soon as I have the opportunity. This time, it was a quick one, just for the Easter break but it was long enough to enjoy this spectacular hike! The #tongarirocrossing is considered one of the best day hikes in the world and I have no doubts many people would confirm that. 19.4Km track, wonderful views and challenging parts make this hike unforgettable. You pass through mountains, volcanos, turquoise lakes and national park forest. The hike takes between 6-8 hours on a average and there are multiple facilities throughout the track. The Tongariro National Park is just a 4 hour drive down from Auckland. You can stop on the way to a few beautiful little towns if you want to. I highly recommend to stop at Tauranga and Mt Maunganui, well worth the detour. New Zealand never lets you down 🇳🇿❤️

I’ve always had a passion for aviation and its history so had to stop off at the classic flyers museum in NZ on my recent trip for Chinese new year. Located close to the mount at the old Tauranaga Airport the museum and cafe is a great spot to check out if you’re in the local area, I was really impressed. The museum has a main hanger and then smaller hangers outside that double up as restoration workshops. The outdoor area also has static displays of old military and civilian airplanes. For such a small town I was really impressed by the scale of this place. The main hanger has displays of military and civilian aircraft along with educational displays about airlines, military conflict and general aviation throughout New Zealand’s history. I was particularly interested in the amount of memorabilia and vintage items that had from New Zealand’s various airlines over time and found this super informative! During a roadtrip around the North Island of NZ we stopped for a night in Tauranga, mainly for the beach and the mount. The beach itself was beautiful and very calm, perfect for swimming - during the day there is a lifeguard on duty so it’s perfect for families. Along the front there are also cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours - perfect for your daily needs. We grabbed a coffee and a cake and chilled for a while on the beach. At the end of the beach is the mount, an infamous hill with a lookout around the area. We did a morning hike to the top to take in the surroundings, it took us about an hour round trip and is a very doable hike for all abilities You get great views right up the coast both ways and you get to really appreciate the stunning natural beauty of NZ. Obviously the eco system of NZ is very fragile so please respect it, stay on the paths and don’t litter. Also make sure you use the shoe cleaning stations every time; they are there for a reason! 🕰️Business Hours: Open 24 hours but ideal for a morning Walk 🏖️Ambiance/Facilities: Well maintained paths with differing difficulties. The food and coffee here is absolutely amazing. We ordered the corn fritters with came with a generous heap of avo smash. The brioche French toast was decadent and just sweet enough. While the fish tacos were also lovely. Its all very good food with outstanding flavours and generous portions. However, this cafe is very popular and the wait can take a while. This is a perfect hidden cafe. The best truffle mushrooms breakfast I have ever had, and the big breakfast will keep you going for the whole day. A quaint little garden area. Service was impeccable, very attentive and welcoming. Food, service and atmosphere - perfect. Thank you, i will be visiting again should we be in this area. We stopped by today for brunch. The staff were so helpful, I don’t eat pork and they substituted fried chicken for the sausages on their breakfast. It was absolutely unbelievable! Those mushrooms are amazing. There were books and colouring books to keep my son entertained, lots of yummy sweet treats AND it’s dog friendly outside. The MUSSELS ,Steamed in creamy white wine garlic & herb sauce was really disappointing. Way to salty and to hard to eat!! with garlie bread Avg. Price per Person - Appetizer, main , deserts and a glas of wine came down to around 70-80 NZD per person. Rating - 3 out of 5. The food was alright and the service great!
