Munich travel guide and discussion

Munich and the Black Forest show two very different sides of southern Germany. Munich is lively, with beer gardens and grand squares, while the Black Forest feels like a place to escape the crowds and enjoy nature at your own pace. In Munich, I’d start at Marienplatz to admire the Neues Rathaus and catch the buzz around the main square. A walk through Viktualienmarkt is perfect for sampling Bavarian snacks, fresh pretzels, and local cheeses. I’d then head to Englischer Garten, where locals relax by the river and surfers ride the famous Eisbach wave. For a classic Munich experience, spending an evening in a traditional beer garden is hard to beat. The Black Forest has a slower rhythm. Triberg Waterfalls make a refreshing stop, especially after a walk through the surrounding woods. I’d explore Titisee, a pretty lake with cafés and walking paths, then visit Freiburg’s Old Town for its colourful buildings and little streams running along the streets. If time allows, the scenic roads around Schauinsland offer lovely views over forested hills and valleys. My pick? Munich wins for food, culture, and urban energy. The Black Forest wins for quiet trails, fresh air, and cosy village scenery. Ideally, I’d combine both for a balanced German getaway. #citybreakvsnatureescape #germany #munich

Ladies, you get it, right? Just got back from Germany, and take my advice! I really don't recommend coming to Germany in September–October 😭 The fairytale filters online are all lies! Landing here is just a triple whammy of temperature shock, transport torture, and dining difficulties 💥 ❄️ [Real Weather Reveal] Help! Where's the promised autumn sunshine? September: 12–20°C during the day (but the wind will freeze you silly 🌪️) October: Freezing cold, basically late autumn (5–15°C) The worst part is the temperature difference between day and night plus the strong winds—I was constantly putting on and taking off layers 🤯 Here's the kicker ⚠️: Must-visit spots like Neuschwanstein Castle are foggy 8 out of 10 times. You'll just be taking photos of nothing! 🚆 [Transport Torture Log] Germany's transport system = a deterrent for independent travelers! ✈️ Airport entry: Starts with a 3-hour wait 🚄 Deutsche Bahn (DB): Delays and cancellations are the norm 🚌 City transport: Signs are all in German + no announcements 🏰 [Must-Visit Spots: No-Filter Edition] 1️⃣ Neuschwanstein Castle: The Disney prototype turned into a foggy castle 👻 2️⃣ Marienplatz: Is this it? It turns into a "ghost town" by 7 PM 3️⃣ Cologne Cathedral: It's impressive, but the surrounding area is as desolate as a post-apocalyptic movie 🏙️ 4️⃣ Heidelberg: The wind is strong enough to blow you all the way back to China 🌪️ 📆 [4-Day, 3-Night Itinerary of Tears] Day 1 Munich 10:00 Slapped in the face by cold wind ❄️ 16:00 The streets start to become empty 🚶‍♀️→0 Day 2 Neuschwanstein Castle 09:00 Got up the mountain and found the castle had disappeared 🌫️ 13:00 So cold I wanted to crawl into a fireplace 🔥 Day 3 Heidelberg 11. 00 Thinking about life on the Philosopher's Walk: Why did I come here 😭 Day 4 Cologne 12. 00 The cathedral is beautiful, but the wind made my eyes water uncontrollably 💦 💣 [Ultimate Tips to Avoid Pitfalls] 1️⃣ Supermarkets are all closed on Sundays! Stock up on food in advance 🍞 2️⃣ DB delays are a classic tradition, don't pack your itinerary too tight ⏳ 3️⃣ Want a late-night snack at 8 PM? Keep dreaming! 🍔 4️⃣ Don't bring a suitcase with small wheels; the cobblestone roads will teach you a lesson in seconds 🧳 Summary: Germany is beautiful, but really think twice about coming in September–October! If you're afraid of the cold, I suggest just changing your destination 🙅‍♀️

If you think Neuschwanstein is just a fairytale castle straight out of a storybook, think again! Behind its shimmering facade lies the story of a king so obsessed with art that he turned his dreams into stone. 👑 1. A King, a Dream, and a Fairytale World Neuschwanstein was built based on the vision of King Ludwig II of Bavaria—often called the "Swan King." He was so enamored with music, art, and legendary tales that he wanted to create his own world, separate from reality. People often called him the "Mad King," but perhaps he was just an extraordinary dreamer. Sadly, he passed away before the castle was finished and never truly got to enjoy the dream he worked so hard to create. 🦢 2. Neuschwanstein Means "New Swan Stone Castle" This name isn't a coincidence! The swan is an image deeply linked to the artistic world Ludwig loved, especially the works of composer Richard Wagner. Fun fact: Ludwig was born at Nymphenburg Palace in Munich, but spent much of his childhood at Hohenschwangau Castle—where his family stayed, located right near today's Neuschwanstein. The mountain scenery and local legends here helped fuel the young king's imagination. 🏰 3. Disney’s Fairytale Castle Didn’t Just Appear Out of Nowhere! Does Neuschwanstein look familiar? It’s actually one of the famous inspirations for Disney’s iconic fairytale castle! So, if you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into the Disney world, this trip might make you feel like you’re standing in the middle of a real-life animated movie. All that’s missing is a princess and a singing bird! 😂 🚌 4. A Two-Hour Drive from Munich to a Whole Different World You can take a FlixBus from Munich to the Füssen area, which takes about 2 hours or more depending on the trip. From there, continue to the village of Hohenschwangau at the foot of the castle. It might sound like a bit of a hassle, but trust me, the mountain views, forests, and the sight of the castle emerging in the valley make the journey much more worthwhile than just looking at photos online. And remember: tickets to see the inside of the castle have specific time slots, so book in advance if you want to go in! ✨ 5. Don’t Just Visit Neuschwanstein and Leave! This is what many people miss: there’s more than just one castle here. · Neuschwanstein: The fairytale-like castle standing out in the mountains and forests. · Hohenschwangau: The castle where Ludwig II spent many childhood years, featuring classic beauty and royal Bavarian history. · Lake Alpsee: A crystal-clear blue lake nestled in the mountains, perfect for a leisurely stroll and a breath of fresh air. You can easily turn a simple photo op into a full journey exploring both royal history and Bavarian nature. 💙 Conclusion: Is it worth a full day from Munich? In my opinion, YES! Neuschwanstein isn't just beautiful because of its architecture, but because of the story behind it: a king who spent his life chasing his imagination, only for that dream to become a destination millions around the world want to see for themselves. There are places you visit just to take a photo. But there are also places that make you understand why humans want to build things that seem impossible. And Neuschwanstein is exactly that kind of place. 🏰✨

Spent 20,000 to suffer in Germany❓ Read this and save half your money😤 Let's be honest: this trip to Germany was a love-hate relationship! Prices were painfully high, and the trains were always on strike, but those medieval towns and fairytale castles were breathtaking. I'm spilling all the pitfalls and the places actually worth visiting, so read this before you decide how to travel~ 📍Munich | The flip side of the beer capital 😵‍💫 Don't just crowd into Marienplatz! Go to the English Garden early in the morning to watch surfers on the icy stream and old men reading newspapers in the sun—that's the real Bavarian vibe. 🏰 Don't just visit the main building of Nymphenburg Palace! The palace gardens behind it are free. Rent a bike and ride through the canals and forests; it's more relaxing than Versailles. If you have time, head to the Deutsches Museum; the planes, ships, and submarines are all real. Tech fans can spend a whole day there. 🍺 The HB beer hall has an amazing atmosphere but is packed with tourists! For a local feel, go to the Salvator beer garden, order a pork knuckle with white sausage, and the German uncle sharing your table might chat with you all afternoon. 📍Neuschwanstein Castle | The price of a fairytale 🚌 You must book tickets on the official website in advance! If you wait in line on-site, it's at least a 2-hour wait, which is exhausting. I recommend walking to Marienbrücke for the classic angle, but go early; the afternoon backlight will make your face look completely black in photos. 🐎 You can take a horse-drawn carriage up the mountain, but it smells pretty intense and is slow. If you're fit, just walk for 25 minutes. After coming down, go to Alpsee. The lake reflects the snow-capped mountains, and it's so empty it feels like you've booked the whole scenic area—it's even more stunning than inside the castle. 📍Berlin | Cool soul on the ruins 🖼️ You can't finish Museum Island in one day! The Pergamon Altar and the bust of Nefertiti in the Neues Museum are must-sees. For budget travelers, I recommend buying a three-day pass and taking your time. 🧱 The most famous part of the East Side Gallery graffiti wall is the "Fraternal Kiss." If you want to take photos without people, go at 7:00 AM! The sunlight hits the colorful walls, creating a perfect atmosphere. 🛍️ The Berlin Wall Memorial is free to enter, and the open-air exhibits and documentaries are super impressive. After visiting, head to Hackesche Höfe for all kinds of niche designer shops and cafes—much more interesting than the Galeries Lafayette department store. 📍Rothenburg | The quintessential medieval fairytale 🍭 Staying for one night is the right way to do it! After 8:00 PM, the tourists are gone, and the cobblestone streets and timber-framed houses under the streetlights feel like walking into the world of The Nutcracker. In the early morning, the streets are empty, and every shot is wallpaper-worthy. 🥧 Schneeball is a local specialty—it's a pastry ball covered in powdered sugar. It looks great in photos but is sickeningly sweet, so just buy one to share. You can walk around the city wall for free and overlook the panoramic view of red roofs; it's more beautiful than any observation deck. 🎁 The Teddy Bear Museum and the Christmas Museum are connected and are a dream for anyone with a soft spot for cute things. The German craftsmanship is so exquisite you'll want to bring everything home. ⚠️ Pitfall warning signs 🚄 Buy train tickets in advance for early-bird prices; buying them last minute costs twice as much. But DB delays are the norm, so don't leave less than 20 minutes for transfers! 🍖 Never order dishes on a restaurant menu marked "market price"! I was charged €70 for a grilled fish—a painful lesson. Taverns outside the tourist areas are not only cheaper but also have generous portions. 💶 Germany mostly accepts cards, but some public restrooms only take coins! Keep €5 in change on you, or you'll be awkwardly spinning in circles. 📸 For outfits, go for a vintage style! White or beige tones look great in the old town, and adding a red scarf as an accent will give you a cinematic look in minutes. 🥨 Food hit and miss list 🌭 Currywurst with bread is the soul of street food; any place in Berlin is good. 🥩 Pork knuckle with potato dumplings—the portion is so big that two people can't even finish it. 🍺 You can order any German beer without going wrong. Dark beer with roasted pork knuckle is the real German taste. 🫠 Don't randomly try white asparagus soup; that earthy, raw taste is really hard to accept. 💡 Final summary: Germany is suitable for people who love history and culture, not for budget travelers. Avoid chain hotels in big cities; staying in small-town guesthouses can save you half the money. Bring a thermos to get free water everywhere, and definitely bring snacks for long-distance travel—there's really nothing to eat on the road. I hope you get to see the snow-capped Neuschwanstein Castle, jump into the crowd at Oktoberfest in Munich, and turn all your regrets into surprises~

Just had to share this cafe across from Marienplatz gives you an absolutely jaw-dropping view of Munich’s legendary clock tower, Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) is right there, looking majestic as ever. Craving Spanish flavors? This spot totally hit the mark for my Spanish food fix! Here’s how my delicious night went down: Started off with a classic Sangria that instantly set the vibes just right. Then came the share plates, they did not disappoint! Gambas al ajillo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A total must-try! Juicy prawns sizzle in piping-hot garlic oil. I even dipped bread in the garlic oil—sooo good you won’t wanna miss a drop. Datiles al beicon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dates wrapped in crispy bacon, drizzled with a luscious red wine sauce. Love the sweet-meets-savory action. Such a vibe! Pimientos del padrón ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Who knew grilled green peppers could slap like this?! It’s a simple dish, but honestly, it blew my mind. Calamares fritos ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crispy fried calamari for the win. Add a squeeze of lemon and you’re golden. Seafood paella ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The main event was a seafood paella loaded with fresh catches. I still loved the entrees more, since the rice was a bit on the hard side for me. Location deets for you explorers: Restaurant Name: El Español Address: Pariser Str. 46, 81667 München-Au-Haidhausen, Germany Hours: Open daily, 4pm – 11pm (Monday closed) The small plates outshined the main, but the vibes and flavors will defs have me coming back for another round. Craving Spain? This spot’s got your back! 🥘🇪🇸 #foodietravel #spanishfood #munich

Munich turned out to be much easier to explore on a budget than I expected. I spent most of one day walking around the city, and honestly, I never felt like I was missing out. I started at Marienplatz, where the Neues Rathaus immediately caught my attention. I arrived just before the famous Glockenspiel, so I stayed for the show before wandering through the nearby streets. From there, I walked over to Frauenkirche, taking a quick look inside before continuing toward Viktualienmarkt. I didn’t buy anything, but browsing the stalls and watching locals shop was surprisingly enjoyable. Later, I crossed the Maximilian Bridge and walked along the Isar River, where I found people relaxing on the riverbanks. It was a nice escape from the busy city center. I also spent some time in the English Garden, watching surfers at the Eisbachwelle and then finding a quiet spot under the trees. Before heading back, I wandered around Odeonsplatz and Hofgarten. What I liked most about Munich was how walkable it felt. With comfortable shoes and a free afternoon, there was plenty to discover without spending a euro. #munich #germany

Munich is the most popular tourist city in southern Germany, boasting much more than just deep history and culture. Munich One-Day Highlights: Beer, Cars, and City Landscapes Munich is the most popular tourist city in southern Germany, known not only for its rich history and culture but also as the global capital of beer and the cradle of the automotive industry. This itinerary is perfect for those with limited time who want to experience the city's iconic landmarks, traditional beer gardens, classic car exhibits, and natural scenery all in one go. The route is compact yet relaxed, covering Marienplatz, a beer garden, the BMW Museum, and Olympic Park. Itinerary Suggestions and Highlights: Marienplatz (Marienplatz, 80331 München, Germany) Start your day at Marienplatz, the heart of Munich, surrounded by Gothic churches, the Old Town Hall, and a variety of boutiques. No matter what time you arrive, the square is open year-round, so you won't miss any photo opportunities. The top recommendation is watching the Glockenspiel performance at the New Town Hall in the morning—a quintessentially Munich experience. The square is the best place to capture city landscapes and the bustling atmosphere reminiscent of Oktoberfest. Beer Garden Experience Traditional beer gardens are just a short walk away. We suggest stopping by for lunch or afternoon tea to enjoy authentic German beer paired with roasted pork knuckles, sausages, and pretzels. The atmosphere is laid-back, often featuring live performances. Special tip: If you prefer a quieter experience, choose an outdoor seat; you might even see locals enjoying the sun with their dogs. BMW Museum (Am Olympiapark 2, 80809 München, Germany) After your beer garden visit, take the U3 subway line directly to the BMW Museum. The museum showcases BMW cars, motorcycles, and design concepts from different eras, alongside the history of the German automotive industry. Opening hours are 10:00 - 18:00, with last entry at 17:30. Note that it is closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly. With its hands-on experiences and comprehensive exhibits, it is a must-visit for car enthusiasts and families. Photo tip: The classic BMW 3 Series models are the most popular, and don't miss the rotating temporary exhibitions. Munich Olympic Park (Spiridon-Louis-Ring 21, 80809 München, Germany) Located right across from the BMW Museum is Olympic Park. Open all day with free admission, you can admire the spectacular architecture of the Olympic venues, the lakes, and the sprawling lawns. We recommend visiting at dusk to enjoy a walk while overlooking the city's sunset. The park features a revolving tower for a panoramic view of Munich, and you can also rent bikes or join small local events. For a classic German landscape photo, this is an absolute must. Practical Tips: 1. Marienplatz is less crowded in the morning, making it better for photos; always check the BMW Museum's opening days to avoid a wasted trip on a Monday. 2. Book restaurant tables in advance during peak season, and be mindful of the self-service rules in beer gardens. 3. Olympic Park is great for a leisurely stroll, but bring an extra jacket as the weather can change, and it gets cooler on summer evenings. 4. The entire itinerary is easily completed via subway and walking, making transportation very convenient.

✨ Nymphenburg Palace – A Royal Escape in Munich 🇩🇪 One of the most beautiful places to visit in Munich is Nymphenburg Palace, a magnificent former summer residence of the Bavarian royal family. 👑 Walking through the palace grounds feels like stepping into another era — grand architecture, beautiful gardens, peaceful canals, and endless green spaces creating a truly magical atmosphere. 🌿🏰 The palace itself is impressive, but the gardens are what make the experience even more special. Take a slow walk along the canal, enjoy the peaceful scenery, and simply take in the beauty of this historic place. And if you visit Munich, don’t just rush from one famous landmark to another… take some time to experience places like Nymphenburg, where history, nature, and elegance come together perfectly. 🤍 📍 Nymphenburg Palace, Munich, Germany A quiet royal moment in the heart of Munich. 🇩🇪✨ #NymphenburgPalace #Munich #Germany #Bavaria #VisitMunich #MunichTravel #GermanyTravel #TravelEurope #EuropeanTravel #TravelPhotography

Germany has some great places to visit for those who put the effort in but Nuremberg would be number one on my list! Sure people know about it and visit but not in the vast tourist numbers like Athens, Paris or London. I have recommended this medieval town and to family and friends for years and everyone always comments they have heard of the Christmas Markets but did not realize how gorgeous the old town is. It has an airport and is well connected to the test of the country with the train network. From Berlin the fast train (ICE) stops on the way through to Munich, so this could be a in-between over night stop. The Park Plaza Nuremberg is a very short walk from the train station (two minutes). It is near the Frauentour and a repilca medieval street. I recommend it for the location and really nice rooms! There is an old town surrounded by huge sandstone walls, towers and the quintessential moat. Although the moat is dry nowadays, you need to use your imagination to cast you back to medieval times. The Pegnitz runs through the middle of town making for fantastic photo opportunities. While exploring the town which is fairly large and would take the full day or possibly two. I suggest seeing the Kaiserburg, the castle it has excellent views over the old town. The Weissgerbergasse, the Hauptmarket Square, and the Cathedral. I would keep my eyes open while walking around for one of the many bakeries for an afternoon coffee and cake. It is a german tradition to have this most days. #citydaytours #travel2026 #myitinerary #germany #tripmoments #nuremberg #bavaria #castleviews #history

Things to Watch Out For on Your Europe Trip🇪🇺⚠️ ① Check for Hotel Elevators Many hotels and vacation rentals located in historic downtown buildings don't have elevators and are stairs-only. Even if they do have one, it's super common for it to only fit 1-2 people or be completely broken, so if you're traveling with a suitcase, make sure to read the reviews first. 　 ② Cheap Stays = Often in Sketchy Neighborhoods There are some areas where the vibe of the street completely changes at night, with a high presence of homeless individuals and rampant drug dealing. If you're traveling solo or on a girls' trip, don't just book based on price. Always check the neighborhood's safety information before booking a hotel! For your first time in a new city, even if it's a bit pricey, look for a hotel on a main street, or one with security guards and a 24-hour front desk. Booking a larger hotel like this will give you peace of mind. ③ Pickpockets and Bag-Snatchers are Everywhere In cities like Paris, Barcelona, and Rome, it's almost guaranteed that I'll spot a ring of pickpockets. lol ・Use a bag that has a zipper / is difficult to open ・Hold your bag in front of you in crowded places ・Use a lanyard or chain for your phone and wallet ・Avoid walking on the street side or next to bike/scooter lanes ・Keep a tight grip on your bags and phone near train or bus doors ・If staying at a vacation rental, check your surroundings before unlocking the door 　 I've been traveling solo for 17 years, and by simply keeping these tips in mind, even without using an anti-theft crossbody bag or a hidden money belt, I've never been pickpocketed or had my bag snatched! 👍 Europe has so many amazing things to see, so I hope you get to visit again and again to fully enjoy it♪

📍Munich arrival ✨ After 2 years of planning, I finally made it here. Munich, you were worth the wait. 🇩🇪🤍 📍Train journey 🚆 A 6-hour journey from Jena to Munich, made easier with the Deutschlandticket. One of the best things about exploring Germany. 📍Munich streets & buildings 🏛️ Walking through Munich felt like stepping into history. The majestic Baroque buildings and old-world charm were truly breathtaking. 📍German food 🥨 Trying German food was part of the experience… but my Asian food cravings still won. 😂🥢 Sometimes, nothing beats the flavors that feel like home. 📍First view of Eibsee 🏔️ And then we arrived at Eibsee… a magical lake that looked too beautiful to be real. 📍Turquoise water 💎 Crystal-clear turquoise water, cold mountain air, peaceful forests, and views that looked straight out of a postcard. 📍Forest trail 🌲 Walking through the quiet forest, surrounded by nature and the Bavarian Alps, was the kind of moment you wish you could keep forever. 🤍 From city streets to alpine lakes, this Bavarian adventure will always have a special place in my heart. ✨ Eibsee Travel Tips 🏔️ 🚆 From Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Eibsee, the bus is not included in the Deutschlandticket. You need to pay an extra €12 for the round trip, and they only accept cash, so prepare some beforehand. 💶 🌅 Start early! It’s the best way to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, avoid bigger crowds, and have more chances to capture the best viewpoints. 🥾 For the Eibsee walk, starting counter clockwise from the parking lot area worked well for us. You’ll discover beautiful views of the turquoise lake, forest, and mountains along the way. 💎🌲 🥪 Bring your own food and water. Having a packed meal makes it easier to relax and enjoy the scenery without rushing. Small preparations make the journey smoother, but the views make everything worth it. ✨

When you think of a trip to Germany, beer and sausages instantly come to mind! 🍺🌭 To get a taste of the real deal, I headed to Munich's legendary beer hall, Hofbräuhaus! Walking in, the first thing that strikes you is the sheer size of the place. Steeped in history, the hall was filled with the sounds of a cheerful live band, creating a vibrant, festival-like atmosphere. 🎺✨ Naturally, I had to order a beer! I don't usually drink much beer, but this one went down so smooth. It lacked any strong aftertaste and felt much lighter than Japanese beers. 🍻 For food, I went with the pork knuckle and a sausage platter! It was my first time trying pork knuckle, and it was incredible—crispy and savory on the outside, but fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy on the inside. It tasted way better than I ever imagined. If you're ever in Germany, this is one dish you absolutely have to try! ✨ The sausages were also bursting with juices, delivering that authentic local flavor. Needless to say, they paired perfectly with the beer! If you're visiting Munich, Hofbräuhaus is an absolute must-visit spot to experience Germany's rich food culture and lively vibe all in one place. 🇩🇪🍺

Munich is famous for its beer gardens and Marienplatz, but the places I remember most were the ones hidden just beyond the usual tourist route. One quiet morning, I wandered into Westpark, where locals were jogging, families were picnicking, and the peaceful atmosphere made me forget I was in one of Germany’s biggest cities. It felt like I had discovered a side of Munich that guidebooks rarely mention. Later, I climbed the hill at Olympiaberg. It wasn’t crowded, but the panoramic view over Munich especially at sunset was easily one of the best in the city. I also spent time exploring the colorful streets around Gärtnerplatz, filled with independent cafés, small boutiques, and a relaxed neighborhood vibe that encouraged me to slow down. Another unexpected highlight was walking along the Isar River, where locals gathered to cycle, swim, or simply enjoy the sunshine. It was the perfect place to experience everyday life in Munich. Before leaving, I visited Nymphenburg Palace Park, wandering through its quiet gardens and hidden pathways, and ended the day at Müller’sches Volksbad, one of the most beautiful historic swimming pools I’ve ever seen. Munich isn’t just about famous landmarks. Sometimes, its greatest treasures are the peaceful corners that most visitors walk right past. #munich #germany

Before leaving, I was repeatedly advised against it, told that Europe would be hit by a heatwave in August, attractions would be overcrowded, and hotel prices would double. I went to Bavaria with the mindset of “at worst, I’ll just stay in the hotel,” but after 3 days, I was proven completely wrong—this wasn’t suffering at all, it was actually the most comfortable time in Germany🍻. The daily average temperature was 22 degrees with a cool breeze, beer gardens had just opened for the season, there were 40% fewer tourists than the peak summer season, and even hotel prices dropped by nearly a third. A country full of castles, forests, and fresh beer, August is truly a hidden gem destination✨. 1️⃣ 3 days of in-depth exploration🌤️ 🏰 Day 1 Munich old town + English garden summer escape slow stroll route At 8:00 AM, head straight to Marienplatz🕍 to explore the old town before the tour groups arrive. The town hall clock tower chimes on the hour, its Gothic spires glowing in the morning light, perfect for photos. Wearing a vintage fitted dress, snap street corner shots with atmosphere everywhere, no need to fight for a spot. Breakfast at a bakery next to the square: pretzel with white sausage and yellow mustard, 8 euros per set, a local everyday breakfast flavor. At 11:30 AM, visit the grain market🥨, stalls filled with fresh-cut fruit, German cheese, and handmade sausages. Grab a freshly baked German sandwich with apple sparkling wine and enjoy it slowly in the shade. Much better value than trendy restaurants. At 1:30 PM, move on to the English garden🌳, a huge forest park in the city center. You can wade in the Eisbach river, the shaded areas are 4 degrees cooler than downtown. Walking along the trails, you might spot the Chinese tower and wild swans. Wearing a linen dress, take healing forest-style photos with no crowds. At 6:00 PM, go to an outdoor beer garden🍺, order roasted pork knuckle with wheat beer. The evening breeze carries the scent of beer, neighbors are locals off work, full of lively atmosphere. Spend about 20 euros per person and eat until full. 🏞️ Day 2 Linderhof palace + Ammergau mural town off-the-beaten-path route At 8:30 AM, take the regional train to Linderhof palace🚞, a 1.5-hour ride. Compared to the overcrowded Neuschwanstein castle, this private palace of Ludwig II is much more exquisite. The Rococo interiors are gorgeous and delicate, the back garden’s fountains and artificial lake feel like a fairy tale. Wearing a light-colored dress, take full palace views. Traveling off-peak, you can almost have the place to yourself for photos. At 12:30 PM, have farmhouse food in the Ammergau town at the foot of the mountain🥩. Fried pork chop with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, hearty portions and rich meat flavor. About 18 euros per person, very satisfying. The owner even gives homemade apple sauce. At 2:00 PM, explore the mural town🎨, where every house’s exterior wall is painted with religious and fairy tale themes. Hidden craft shops in the old alleys. Wearing a vintage shirt, capture cultural street scenes. Every shot has the unique relaxed vibe of a European small town, with almost no tour groups. Return to Munich in the evening, stop by a supermarket to buy souvenirs. Chocolate and handmade sausages are half the price compared to tourist spots. 🏛️ Day 3 art district exhibition + Nymphenburg palace cultural leisure route At 9:00 AM, visit the old painting gallery🖼️. Escape the midday heat indoors to see masterpieces by Rubens and Dürer. Rent an audio guide and take your time. Two hours is just right to avoid the hottest part of the day. At 12:30 PM, have lunch at a German restaurant near the museum🍝. Beef meatballs with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, classic home-style flavor. About 16 euros per person, great value. At 2:30 PM, visit Nymphenburg palace🏯, the Bavarian royal summer residence. The French-style gardens are spacious and exquisite, swans slowly glide across the lake. Walking along the garden paths is very soothing. Wearing a tea dress, take garden photos. Few people, peaceful, no need to avoid crowds. In the evening, stroll through the old town night market and buy a freshly made waffle with ice cream to end the trip on a sweet note. 2️⃣ Transportation guide🚄 Fly directly to Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport✈️. The airport express train S1/S8 goes straight to Marienplatz in 25 minutes. The ticket costs 11 euros, much cheaper than a taxi. For local transport, buy the Munich day ticket, valid all day on city buses and subways, 8 euros per person. For nearby towns, buy the Bayern ticket, 25 euros per person for unlimited regional trains and buses all day. Great value, no need to buy separate tickets or transfer hassle. 3️⃣ Tested high-value accommodation🏨 Munich old town apartment homestay📍 Address: 5-minute walk north of Marienplatz in Munich old town Price: Off-season in August, about 90 euros per person per night💶 Highlights: Renovated old apartment with a mini balcony, morning views of the old town. Good soundproofing for quiet rest after a long day. The host is a local aunt who provides free hand-drawn food maps and guides to hidden spots. Breakfast includes freshly baked pretzels and fresh milk. Right next to the subway station, no need to rush around for food or sightseeing. Nearly 30% cheaper than hotels in the same area. 4️⃣ Travel tips to avoid pitfalls⚠️ ✅ Preparation: August temperatures in Germany range from 15 to 25℃☀️, with big day-night temperature differences, bring a light windbreaker. Very long daylight hours, it gets dark only after 9 PM, don’t forget sunscreen and sunglasses. Most restaurants don’t require extra tipping, just round up the bill. ✅ Pitfall avoidance: Don’t exchange euros at train stations or attraction entrances, city bank rates are much better. Don’t sit randomly in reserved seats at beer gardens, many are reserved by regulars. Buy tickets for popular palaces at least one week in advance on the official website, on-site lines are at least 30 minutes. ✅ Notes: Most shops close on Sundays, plan souvenir shopping ahead. Don’t wear tank tops or shorts when visiting churches, respect religious customs. Don’t skip public transport fares, fines are very high if caught. ✨ Personal experience & summary I was mentally prepared for “suffering through crowded attractions in the heat,” but after the trip, I found August in Germany to be a complete surprise❌. No scorching sun like southern Europe, no peak summer crowds, just perfect temperatures for strolling old towns, walking forests, and relaxing in beer gardens. Even prices are much friendlier than peak season. Instead of rushing to popular spots, slowly exploring the old town, drinking fresh beer, and admiring castles is the right way to experience Germany. If you want a comfortable, uncrowded European destination, Bavaria in August is definitely worth it🍻. Save this tested, no-risk guide, book your flight, and set off for a relaxed European trip.

Sisters! I just got back from Germany a week ago, and my soul is still floating in the fairy tale of Neuschwanstein Castle 🏰 The aftereffects of this “castle and beer country” are unreal! 🇩🇪 Why must you go in July or August? Summer temperatures average 20–25℃, with daylight lasting until 9 PM, so it feels like two days in one! July and August are the busiest event seasons in Germany—Hannover Maschsee Lake Festival (7.22–8.9), Nuremberg Open Beatz Music Festival (7.24–7.26), Rothenburg Taubertal Music Festival (8.6–8.9) all happening back to back. Drinking in beer gardens until dawn is not unusual 🍺 📸 Must-visit spots + photo locations Neuschwanstein Castle—the original model for the Disney castle! The classic photo spot is from Marienbrücke for a full view of the castle. Side lighting is best after 3 PM, while mornings have backlighting. It’s recommended to book tickets on the official website before 9 AM to avoid crowds. Rothenburg—the “most romantic small town in Germany”! Colorful houses in Plönlein alley make perfect cover photos; climb the 52-meter town hall tower for a breathtaking view of red rooftops; stroll the 2.5 km ancient city walls for great shots. Berlin—arrive before 7 AM at Brandenburg Gate for empty shots; the Reichstag glass dome is free but requires booking one month in advance; the East Side Gallery’s “Brother’s Kiss” is a must; Museum Island at dusk offers stunning neoclassical building silhouettes. Heidelberg—Goethe called it a romantic university town! Heidelberg Castle overlooks the old town and Neckar River. Zugspitze + Eibsee—Germany’s highest peak, cable car to the top costs about 75 euros. Eibsee’s emerald waters rival Jiuzhaigou. After descending, a lakeside hike is super chill. Cologne Cathedral—the world’s third tallest Gothic cathedral, sunset casts a golden glow over the Rhine and cathedral for an amazing atmosphere. Only 100 people allowed to climb the tower per hour. Romantic Road—Würzburg → Rothenburg → Augsburg → Füssen → Munich, a route of medieval towns, castles, and vineyards. Self-driving is recommended. 🍜 Food you can’t finish ▪ Crispy pork knuckle with dark beer—crispy outside, tender inside, the soul of Bavaria ▪ Currywurst—the king of Berlin street food ▪ Nuremberg grilled sausages—small, flavorful, served with sauerkraut ▪ Pretzel + schnitzel—classic German carb happiness ▪ Black Forest cake—originated in the Black Forest region, a must-try ▪ Schneeball (snowball pastry)—Rothenburg specialty, coated in sweet icing ▪ Riesling white wine—have a glass in a winery town in the Rhine Valley 🚄 Travel tips The “Germany pass” costs 49–58 euros/month and covers all public transport nationwide. The ICE connects major cities. Tickets must be purchased before boarding! No gates but ticket checks happen, with fines starting at 60 euros. Different train cars on the same train may go to different cities, so check the LED screen outside the car before boarding. Download the DB Navigator app for real-time schedules. 💡 Tips ▪ Sunscreen! Strong UV, don’t skip sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats ▪ Big temperature difference between morning and night, bring a light jacket ▪ Carry 200–300 euros cash, many small shops only accept cash ▪ German standard power adapter (two round pins) ▪ Book popular spots like Neuschwanstein Castle and Reichstag dome in advance on the official website ▪ No short skirts or shorts in churches, dress appropriately ▪ Apply for Schengen visa early, insurance must cover COVID-19 ▪ Summer accommodations are tight, book early!

When you travel to Munich, Germany, checking out the super popular landmark—the New Town Hall—is an absolute must! 🤳 This historic building is beautifully preserved and incredibly majestic. It's the ultimate photo spot with major European palace vibes 📸. After exploring the New Town Hall, I unexpectedly discovered a unique restaurant hidden right in its basement: Ratskeller München (Address: Marienplatz 8, 80331 München). The interior is so spacious and chill, creating a super cozy atmosphere. Best of all, the prices are really affordable! I decided to try their famous German pork knuckle 🍖. Every bite is braised to perfection—flavorful, tender, and incredibly meaty. It's a dream come true for meat lovers~ Pair it with a glass of authentic German beer 🍺, and it's simply a perfect match! To top it all off, I ordered the classic German Black Forest cake. The alternating layers of chocolate and cream are so sweet they'll melt your heart, truly satisfying all your taste buds 😋! If you're planning a trip to Munich, be sure to take some pictures at the New Town Hall and head down to the basement for a traditional German meal~ sooo good! New Town Hall Food Pork Knuckle

Nuremberg, Bavaria’s second-largest city, is an old town with two very different faces. One shows the glory of the Holy Roman Empire—the emperors once lived here. The other reflects deep post-WWII reflection—the site of the Nazi Party rallies and the Nuremberg trials. The old town is compact and easy to explore, with attractions close together. You can see the core area in one day. 🔥 Highlights (highly recommended) Nuremberg Castle (Emperor’s Castle): The highest point in the old town, built in the 11th century as the palace of the Holy Roman Empire emperors. Be sure to climb the Sinwell Tower—100 steps up to a panoramic view of the red-tiled roofs. Tickets are required for the tower and deep well, about €7–8. The castle garden is free and perfect for photos. Visit in the morning or at dusk for the best light and fewer crowds. Main Market Square & Beautiful Fountain: The heart of the old town, lively year-round. The Beautiful Fountain is a Gothic fountain with stunning golden sculptures. Legend says spinning the three golden rings grants a wish. Nearby is the Church of Our Lady, where a mechanical clock performs a procession of seven prince-electors every day at noon. St. Lorenz Church: A Gothic twin-tower church and a landmark of the old town. Free entry, tower climb requires a ticket. Weißgerbergasse: A street that survived WWII, preserving complete timber-framed houses. Rows of colorful half-timbered houses make every photo look like a fairy tale. Albrecht Dürer’s House: The home of the German Renaissance master Dürer, a Gothic half-timbered house. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM. Pegnitz River Bridges: The Maxbrücke bridge is a classic photo spot. From the bridge, you can capture postcard-worthy shots of Weinstadel and Henkersteg. Nazi Party Rally Grounds Memorial (optional): For those interested in that history. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM. 📅 One-day walking itinerary Start at the main train station → St. Lorenz Church → Pegnitz River bridges (photo stop) → Main Market Square + Beautiful Fountain + Church of Our Lady (wait for the noon clock show) → Weißgerbergasse → Nuremberg Castle (climb the tower for a panoramic view) → Dürer’s House → If time allows, visit the Toy Museum The old town isn’t large. It’s about 2 km from the train station in the south to the castle in the north. Take your time and don’t rush. ⚠️ Tips for your visit Transportation: Nuremberg main train station is a hub with direct trains from Munich and Frankfurt. The old town is walkable, and all attractions are within walking distance. Best season: Spring and fall (March–May, September–November) offer pleasant weather; summer is warm with occasional showers; winter features the world-famous Christmas market. Tickets: The old town is free to explore. The castle costs about €7–8, with an extra fee for the tower climb. Consider buying the Nuremberg Card for discounts on attractions and transportation. What to wear: Comfortable shoes! The city is full of cobblestone streets, and your feet will protest after a day of walking. Safety: The city center is very safe, but avoid the area south of the train station at night. Sunday note: Many shops are closed on Sundays, so plan ahead
