Combine this with a stop at nearby Red and White Beaches for a culturally rich and visually stunning day.

The Akrotiri Archaeological Site (Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος Ακρωτηρίου; Akrotiri Archaeological Site) is Santorini's (Σαντορίνη; Santorini) most famous archaeological site, often referred to as the "Pompeii of Greece." Spanning an area of 1.2 hectares, the site was equipped with a steel-structured protective roof in 2010. the akrotiri archaeological site is incredible to witness it is one of greece’s biggest archaeological finds. the site is enclosed in a glass-top building for preservation. it is the ruins from the minoan period believed to be dating back to 4000 bc. it was or have been a huge trading center because a wide variety of artifacts and pottery have been discovered and no bodies was found. the village people took off with their possessions before the city was covered and preserved in volcanic ash therefore there was no trace of human bodies, just the city. #greece #akrotiri #archaeology
