Initially, it wasn't well-known until the Yuan dynasty when the eminent monk Xiongbian started preaching here, which gradually increased its fame. Therefore, it is definitely worth a stop. Jingzhu Temple, located in the hinterland of Yu'an Mountain in Kunming, was first built in the Tang and Song Dynasties and was rebuilt twice during the reigns of Emperor Qianlong and Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It is a national key cultural relic protection site and the first temple where Chinese Zen Buddhism was introduced to Yunnan. The temple is built against the mountain, facing east and west, with four entrances and three courtyards along the central axis, including the Mountain Gate, Heavenly King Hall, Main Hall, and Huayan Pavilion, fully displaying the beauty of ancient buildings and Buddhist architecture, and the environment is quiet and secluded. 🌟Highlights: As you enter the temple, you will see two peacock firs planted in the Yuan Dynasty, tall and straight, stretching as far as the eye can see; the temple is filled with the fragrance of camellia and magnolia, and there is a small courtyard tea room outside; there are many plaques and couplets in front of the main hall. ✅Must experience: The Five Hundred Arhats colored sculptures are particularly precious. They were created between the 9th and 16th years of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1883-1890) by Sichuan folk artist Li Guangxiu and his disciples at the invitation of Monk Mengfo, the abbot of Jingzhu Temple. It took seven years to create.
