Haven't been here for almost 8 years. I remember it used to be dirty, with traffic jams and messy parking. Vendors were fighting to sell their products and make money. This Saturday and Sunday, I stopped by Bangsaen, which is 56 minutes from Bangkok. The weather is cool and comfortable right now, with clear skies. I ordered 1 kg of shrimp and crab for 500 baht. You won't find this price in Bangkok. I brought my child to play in the sand. The child was very happy. Bang Saen is located in Chonburi, a beach about an hour from Bangkok. It's closer than Pattaya. There's no information about it in the Chikyu-no-Arukikata, but it's a local beach and quieter than Pattaya. There's also a large temple on a small hill, and monkeys live there. Motorbike taxis and songthaews run around the city, but there aren't many. (There were many motorbike taxis waiting at the roundabout near the beach, but there were few cars on the road, so it was hard to pick one up.) Buses to Bang Saen leave from Ekkamai Bus Terminal. Buses to Bangkok leave from the bus terminal 1km east of the above roundabout. (There's a general hospital across the street. It's a little hard to find, but you can get there by songthaew.)
