Looking for a place to enjoy some wine 🍸 with colleagues after work? You don’t necessarily have to go to a bar. This time, I visited a cafe in Sheung Wan, ordered a bottle of white wine, a non-alcoholic drink, and several dishes.
The Watermelon Salad features refreshing and sweet watermelon 🍉, smooth Greek 🇬🇷 yogurt, crisp cucumber 🥒, mint, tangy and creamy Feta cheese 🧀, and sunflower 🌻 seeds for added texture. This salad is perfect for cooling down in the summer.
I also tried the Grilled Halloumi with salad. Grilled Halloumi is a type of cheese with a chewy texture and rich dairy flavor. Since Halloumi is preserved in brine to extend its shelf life, it tends to be salty, but when paired with the sweet Watermelon Salad, the saltiness is perfectly balanced.
The Turkish Style Runny Egg Toast is a traditional Turkish 🇹🇷 breakfast dish that includes Greek yogurt, poached egg, spicy butter 🧈, Feta cheese 🧀, nuts 🌰, cucumber 🥒, and more. The poached egg has a runny yolk, the Greek yogurt adds a slight tanginess, and the spicy butter makes the dish more flavorful. It pairs wonderfully with crispy sourdough bread.
The Italian Spicy Meat Sauce Orecchiette resembles little cat ears, which is adorable. The pasta has a firm and elastic texture, making it a great match for rich sauces like spicy meat sauce.
The cafe offers a variety of wines, and this time I chose the Van Volxem VV Riesling. It has fruity aromas, a hint of honey 🍯, citrus notes, refreshing acidity, and a rounded mouthfeel, making it very easy to drink.
