[2025 Donghae-si Attraction] Travel Guide for Cheongok Golden Bat Cave (Updated Jun)

#June Travel Support Fund 🦇We explored the Cheongok Golden Bat Cave located in Donghae-si's Cave Road They say that golden bats live there, but I couldn't see if they were in the deeper, unopened caves 🌳When you enter the cool cave, you can hear the sound of water dripping, and the rocks illuminated by the lights are growing in various shapes 🌲The cave is quite deep, and the observation path is well-made The rocks kept growing, and there were even places where the top and bottom met, and it was amazing and mysterious how they grew like that 🌳There were many places where you had to wear a safety helmet and bend down to walk through low passages, so you had to be careful

🏞️ I traveled to Gangneung and Donghae in Gangwon Province, visiting Chuam and Mukho. Leaving behind the majestic wind turbines spinning atop Daegwallyeong Pass, I drove enthusiastically to Gyeongpo Lake and finally arrived at Gyeongpo Beach. The wind was strong, and the waves were crashing fiercely. 🌳 The tranquil Gyeongpo Lake trail was bustling with bicycles speeding joyfully. The pavilion in the middle of the lake added a charming touch. While the waves at the beach were rough, the lake remained as calm as a picturesque painting. 🌲 In front of Gyeongpo Beach, there are red and blue mailboxes known as "slow mailboxes." You can send postcards to the future here. 🌳 I spent a night at the Skybay Hotel in front of Gyeongpo Beach, enjoying the view of the sea to my heart's content. The next day, I headed to Donghae City. 🌲 Wanting to see the sea, I drove along the national road, but the sea only appeared briefly and then disappeared. Upon arriving at Chuam Beach, I found Chuam Station, which made me want to try a train trip. The path leading to Chuam Candle Rock was truly breathtaking. The sea's color was uniquely beautiful, and the rocks looked like sculptures. Crossing the suspension bridge was also quite fun. 🌳 Dojebi Valley Sky Valley and Haerang Observatory were also interesting attractions. Walking down the Nongoldam Stairway while gazing at the deep blue sea was delightful. No matter where you look, the sea is always in view, which is wonderful. 🌲 I also explored the Cheongok Golden Bat Cave, though I didn’t see any bats. The stalactites were beautifully formed, and listening to the sound of dripping water made the cave exploration enjoyable. 🌳 Unfortunately, I couldn’t visit Mureung Valley due to time constraints, but I definitely want to go there next time. Donghae City had quite a lot to see. The snow crab was delicious too. Promising to return someday, I headed back home.

🏞️ I traveled to Chuam Beach and Mukho Beach in Donghae City, Gangwon Province. Although I’ve visited Sokcho and Gangneung many times, it had been so long since I last went to Donghae that I couldn’t even remember when, so I decided to visit. 🌳 I headed to Chuam Beach to see the famous Chuam Candlestick Rock. There’s even a Chuam Station nearby, and trains stop there. Next time, I’d like to try a train trip. 🌲 The sea at Chuam was stunning, with a jade-like color that’s hard to describe in words. The unique rock formations standing in various shapes on the sea were truly breathtaking. 🌲 The Candlestick Rock, along with all the other rocks, looked like a painting on the sea, creating a spectacular view. Crossing the suspension bridge, the scenery of the sea and rocks felt like a masterpiece of art. Chuam Beach also boasts a wide sandy shore and beautiful sand. 🌳 Near Mukho Port, there’s the Nonam Mural Village, Dojjaebi Sky Valley, and Haerang Observatory, all in one area, making it a great place to explore and enjoy. The narrow stone paths are lined with walls painted with murals, and there are many charming cafes with blooming flowers. Every spot is picture-perfect. 🌲 At Haerang Observatory, you can enjoy the view of the sea, and at Dojjaebi Sky Valley, you can ride a sky bike or slide down a steep slope. 🌳 Walking along the Lighthouse Path and climbing the steep stairs of Nonam Path offers beautiful scenery and views of the sea. 🌳 The Cheongok Golden Bat Cave is cool inside and filled with stalactites, making it worth a visit. Although I didn’t see any bats, exploring the cave was enjoyable. There’s even a space to hang locks, which couples might find fun. 🌲 My trip to Donghae was filled with sights to see and activities to enjoy, making it a delightful journey.

What remains at the site is a very beautiful limestone terrain. Wear a helmet when starting (very necessary) Looking at the stalactite columns that have accumulated over millions of years, It makes people marvel at the wonders of nature. The good news is that this point is about 20 minutes away from the city. It is convenient to go there by taxi or bus. But Donghae itself is not a place that foreign tourists would visit. Cave.... You can see caves that are hard to find in the city in Donghae in the middle of the city! After parking and paying the entrance fee, put on a safety helmet at the entrance of the cave and start exploring the cave! There are so many interesting and attractive elements that I didn't realize how much time had passed? This place was unique in that it was a cave in the city. The parking lot was spacious and the admission fee was cheap at 4,000 won. The inside of the cave was narrow and there were many low-ceilinged sections, so wearing a safety helmet is a must! They said that bats actually live there, but I didn't see any haha The section called the Underworld Road had a very low ceiling, so I was sweating, but it was a fun experience. #CaveTour
