Most people hire a driver to drive here in Taiwan, but we did a self drive and parking here can be a problem if you arrive later in the morning as these old streets are narrow and have limited space let alone parking. Daxi Old Street is lined with many old shop houses that sells local Taiwanese snacks, souvenirs and handicrafts. Apart from these there are also restaurants here that are quite popular among the locals. This is where we had to try the local steamed chicken(abit tough) and the smelly toufu but soaked in mala. The fried smell toufu smell was too overpowering so instead we had the other version of it. Well the experience was not too bad, but you have to be someone who like traditional Chinese food to begin with.
