Summer island experience! 6 days and 5 nights itinerary
Only after going to Indonesia did I realize that although it's not very convenient, it's really worth it!
Itinerary sharing:
Day 1: Surabaya airport pickup - Check into hotel
Someone met us upon arrival, the first step to peace of mind. After checking into the hotel, free time to explore. Surabaya city center feels like a big small town.
Day 2: Surabaya hotel - Sewu Waterfall - Depart for Bromo
Set off at 5 AM to Sewu Waterfall. There was a guide waiting (key point: to get to the waterfall you have to walk through water! Essential gear: rain boots, waterproof bags, raincoats can also be bought there).
Day 3: Bromo Volcano sunrise - Black Sand Beach🌋
This day is a test of stamina! Depart at midnight, the mountain road is very narrow. The Bromo sunrise is truly breathtaking! After watching the sunrise, take a car down the mountain, then you have to walk to the crater yourself. The itinerary was well arranged, the experience was great.
Day 4: Nusa Penida East Route (Diamond Beach - Atuh Beach - Treehouse)
Nusa Penida is an independent island, you have to take a boat from Bali, no worries about tickets. Diamond Beach is really beautiful, but the path down is super dangerous!❗️ It’s a sheer cliff, proceed with caution!
Day 5: Nusa Penida West Route (Angel’s Billabong - Thousand Islands Pool - Crystal Bay)
Angel’s Billabong is amazing! It’s like a built-in filter, perfect for photos!
Day 6: Stay by Lovina Beach to chase dolphins🐬 - Ubud Rice Terraces
This time we stayed right by Lovina Beach! The biggest advantage is—you don’t have to get up early to chase dolphins!🎉 Wake up in the morning, open the window to the sea, and get on the boat directly, super convenient! Seeing dolphins leap out of the water is so healing~ In the afternoon, visit the Ubud rice terraces, which feel more like a tropical rainforest with fresh air. There are also many treehouses to check in there.
⚠️ Tips summary:
1️⃣ Many places only accept cash (even for boat tickets and street food), exchange enough Indonesian Rupiah in advance!
2️⃣ Spray insect repellent heavily! 🦟 Especially in Ubud rice terraces and rainforest areas, local repellent is not very effective, better to bring your own!
3️⃣ Don’t skimp on hiking and water-crossing gear:
Volcanic ash is heavy! Wear an N95 mask😷 + windproof goggles (regular sunglasses let ash in)
Wear anti-slip water shoes for waterfalls and beaches, regular flip-flops will cause serious falls!
4️⃣ Apply sunscreen generously! ☀️ The equatorial UV rays are strong, physical sun protection (hat + arm sleeves) is ten times more effective than sunscreen!
5️⃣ Safety first! Don’t push yourself at Diamond Beach and Angel’s Billabong photo spots, there are no railings on the cliffs, slipping is no joke!
