Encountering National Heritage - One-Day Tour in Huzhou
My route: Chaoyin Bridge - Feiying Tower - Pangong Bridge
[Sun] Chaoyin Bridge: One of the three wonders of Huzhou, the "Bridge within a Bridge"! It was listed as the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 2019. It is one of the eight ancient bridges with interchange model in Zhejiang Province.
Chaoyin Bridge is a three-arch stone bridge. The middle of the bridge top is paved with stone slabs and the steps are wide, so pedestrians do not feel tired when going up and down. The railings on both sides are made of stone, where pedestrians can rest. The bridge foot piles are densely packed and very deep, and can stand still for thousands of years. There are two large white stone lions, male and female, at the end of the guardrails at both ends. There is also a pair of water-absorbing beasts carved on the arch shoulders on both sides of the hole in the middle of the bridge, which are meant to stabilize the bridge, ward off evil spirits and ensure safety. People can walk on and under the bridge.
[Rainbow] Tips: It is accessible by bus and is near Lianhuazhuang Park, so you can visit it along the way.
You can go up the Chaoyin Bridge, and it is very cool leaning against the Wuwang Bridge. It is very suitable for cooling off in the evening in summer.
[Sun] Feiying Tower: One of the three wonders of Huzhou, the "tower within a tower" was built in the fifth year of Emperor Yizong of the Tang Dynasty. Feiying Tower has two floors, inner and outer. There is a stone tower inside, and an outer tower with a brick and wood structure is built outside the stone tower, forming a "tower within a tower". In January 1988, the State Council approved it as a key cultural relic protection unit at the national level.
[Rainbow] Tips: You can climb the tower from Feiying Tower. Climbing stops at 16:30 and the park closes at 17:00. The park closes at 17:30 during daylight saving time.
There is a Xu Zhongliang pastry shop opposite Feiying Park, the taste is good!
[Sun] Pan Gong Bridge: It is also a national key cultural relic protection site. It is located at the confluence of the Tiaoxi River and the Qianxi River at the north gate of Huzhou. It was built by Ming Shangshu Pan Jixun (1521-1595), so it is named "Pangong Bridge". Pan Gong Bridge and Pan Xiao Tomb are both ranked seventh among the national rankings.
[Rainbow] Tips: There are buses to get there, but you still need to walk about one kilometer. If you have enough time, you can walk to Xiangwang Park. The shops along the river are also good for taking photos.
