Yixing in Jiangsu was advertised with the roadside paintings as a stunning bamboo forest that was very foggy. (Pic5) and Yixing was literally a stunning bamboo forest national park with ridiculous amounts of fog both days we were there. The area is lovely with little restaurants and b&b's plus a couple big hotels near the national park entrance. We stayed at the Bamboo international hotel and it was superb, they were accepting of our road bikes and breakfast was an array of Chinese foods. In the evenings we tried the local restaurants and they were cosy and all had lots of bamboo, potato and pork dishes. On our second day we went into the national park and went up a very long cableway (potentially 30mins). The higher we went the less we could see, but it was fun to walk around the peaks in thick fog and kinda eerie. The lakes and scenery are beautiful and I will return in the future in hope of a slightly clearer day. Getting There- Self-drive, Taxi, tour bus or cycle. The roads are steep and very tight, great for cyclists who love mountain climbing as there wasn't much traffic.

a while ago I was privileged enough to visit this lovely park. this place is called the bamboo forest because the whole area is filled with so many bamboo trees and thus makes it such a great experience. the only thing I would have loved to see would be the cute pandas but unfortunately this area doesn’t have any. This place is actually located in a small county just outside Wuxi in Jiangsu province and I was able to visit this spot with a bunch of amazing photographers and capture the beauty of this place. another cool thing you could do here is to hike. there is a hill which is not too high, so it’s not such a tough hike but at the top, you have an amazing view, and also there’s a temple at the top and a gong that you might be able to ring. this was such an amazing experience for me and I recommend everyone to try this.#momentsmission #travelinspiration #scenicspotguide #decembertravel #naturalwonders #nationalpark

The most unforgettable experience during my stay was the morning "tea ceremony"—a local tea farmer personally demonstrated the brewing of Zisun tea. The tea was clear with a hint of honey aroma, paired with a plate of Yixing salted radish, simple yet deeply flavorful. In the afternoon, I read on the terrace as the mountain breeze carried moist mist, making time feel delightfully lazy. The room retained the wooden structure of a traditional Su-style residence, with a bathtub facing the mountain view, offering a sense of being embraced by nature while soaking. The owner, an art-loving designer, adorned the public spaces with works by Yixing ceramic artists, and even the amenities featured locally dyed towels made from natural plants. Upon departure, I was gifted a handmade Zisha teacup, a warm memento of this trip. If you're weary of the hustle and bustle, this place will help you understand—true luxury is simply the serene coexistence of nature and the human spirit.

Both pedestrians and vehicles enter from Picture 1. Going straight in Picture 2 leads to the Fudong Village hiking trail, which is a challenging 600-meter gravel path (on the way down, we took another 350-meter hiking trail with narrow and steep concrete steps). After that, it's about a 10-minute winding mountain road walk to reach the entrance of Fuyuan Zen Temple. The right side of Picture 2 is the parking lot entrance, where you can drive all the way to the temple gate. Inside the temple, vegetarian noodles cost 20 yuan per bowl, and there's a vending machine at the entrance selling affordable drinks. A short walk up leads to the Mini Great Wall entrance, with a restroom just a bit further up. The scenery is truly breathtaking—on one side, rolling mountains like a green fairy tale, with trains resembling caterpillars passing through tunnels and crawling across bridges. On the other side, the majestic Taihu Lake looks like an ocean from afar. We didn't return the same way but descended via another section of the wall back to the temple entrance. Climbing the Mini Great Wall during the dog days of summer left us drenched in sweat. The mountain pavilions had strong winds, making it super refreshing. Though exhausting, it's absolutely worth the visit.
