[Bali, Indonesia] Recommended spots!
Lempuyang is a very popular spot in Bali!
We left Ubud at 8:30 in the morning!!
It takes about 2 hours to get to Lempuyang from Ubud, but we got stuck in traffic and it took about 3 hours, and we arrived just before noon!
From there, we took a shuttle bus up the mountain, got a numbered ticket, and it was number 587!!! And we were told that we would have to wait 5 hours🤣🤣🤣🤣
We were told that we would have to wait an average of 2 hours, so we were prepared, but we didn't expect it to be 5 hours! Maybe it was because Lempuyang was closed for a festival the day before?
We waited for an hour, but it didn't move forward, so we paid and went to nearby Lahangan Sweet! (I'll post about it later ✌️)
After playing at Lahangan Sweet for about an hour, when we came back, our number was in the 400s!
I guess everyone had given up and gone home~ Our number was hardly called from there, so it was our turn in about 10 minutes🤣
We got some great photos like the ones you see in travel magazines!! (4 poses as a group, 4 poses by myself)
The mountain in the background was covered with clouds and was almost invisible except in the morning, but it was beautiful all day and I was also able to go to Lahangan Sweet, so I was very satisfied ❤️✌️#Indonesia #IndonesiaTrip #Bali #BaliTrip #GirlsTrip #LampuyangTemple #OverseasTriptrip

The Reflection of the Gates of Heaven, Bali
Lempuyang Temple
The Instagram-famous photo spot 'The Reflection of the Gates of Heaven' is located at the top of Lempuyang Temple. To reach the top, you need to purchase a ticket and take a shuttle. The entire path up the mountain is quite steep, and the ticket includes the photo opportunity at the Gates of Heaven.
The photo spot at the Gates of Heaven is not available for random shooting; you must queue up. You can pose for 5 to 10 shots, and the photographer will use special tools to create a mirror reflection effect in the photos. The waiting time can be long, but there are places to wait on both sides. You can also visit nearby paid photo spots while waiting, but be careful not to miss your turn.

The Gates Of Heaven - For Real?
Lempuyang Temple's Gates of Heaven - Karangasem, Indonesia!
The temple is famous for its iconic split gate entrance, known as the 'Gates of Heaven.' The gates offer a mesmerizing panoramic view of Mount Agung, Bali's highest and most sacred volcano, creating a picture-perfect setting for visitors and photographers. This temple is not only one of Bali’s most treasured Instagram photo spots, but it is also considered one of the island’s oldest and most sacred temples.
The gates are undeniably impressive, and the lines of people stunned us. We waited for at least 2 hours for our chance to reach the gates. The dreamy aesthetics are created using photo trickery with a mirror to get that epic reflection shot. There is a whole team at work, which we guess is necessary to manage that many people.
💡 The best time to visit the place is early in the morning, just before sunrise when the temple is less crowded.
SAVE & SHARE this post of The Gates of Heaven with travellers who want some most iconic shots in Bali, and having your photo taken by somebody who knows how to get the most out of it is a real blessing.

Bali's Gate of Heaven ☁️
📍 Lempuyang temple
To capture the ethereal beauty of Bali's Gate of Heaven, an early start is a must. Even arriving early doesn't guarantee solitude, as this spot remains immensely popular.
Securing our line numbers at the temple, we prepared for a wait of 3-4 hours, ensuring we arrived before dusk.
While anticipation built, we explored nearby areas, dined at a local restaurant, and honed our poses for the fleeting moments allowed to capture the temple's magnificence.

Popular Hindu Temple in Bali, Indonesia
Temple of Penataran Agung Lempuyang, also known as the Lempuyang Temple, is known for the iconic "Gates of Heaven" and massive dragon head statues. It is approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes drive from Mercure Hotel in Nusa Dua.
Since it is considered a popular place for tourists, we decided to leave the hotel as early as 5 o'clock in the morning. The place was already crowded when we reached the area. We had to pay an entrance fee, ride a bus, and then walk up the steep hill to reach the temple. From there, we were given a card with an allocated number, which gives everyone an opportunity to have their photo taken at a well-known "Gate of Heaven" in an organized manner. To tell you the truth, we had to wait almost 2 hours for our turn. While waiting, we had an opportunity to explore and admire the beauty of the temple. Although it was raining and cloudy at the earliest hours of the day, we were able to capture beautiful photos and appreciate the place. It is definitely worth a visit!
Just a reminder, ensure that you are wearing appropriate clothing when visiting the temple. They will provide sarong if needed. Unfortunately, for ladies, you are not allowed to enter the temple during your menstruation due to their beliefs. So, plan accordingly.

📍 Lempuyang Temple
The highlights of this temple is to come and take pictures at what they call the Heavenly gate. On a clear day you can actually see Mt. Agung in the background. When we came it was cloudy but very cool pictures anyway.
🚐 From the parking lot you can take a shuttle bus up to the temple. At this place I would actually recommend taking the shuttle because it’s on a hill that is quite steep.
🎫 Once we arrived at the hotspot we had to pay the entrance and then we got a number. We were 151 and when we arrived they were at 106, so we did have to wait for a while. There are shades to hide under and they will announce your number on a speaker so that you don’t have to stand in line. I did not check the time but we might have waited for two hours.
📸 When it’s your turn you give them your phone and they will take pictures for you, they will use a mirror to get the special effect. Although there is a que we totally thought it was worth it.

Gateway to the Gods: Lempuyang Temple’s Majestic Charm 🇮🇩
#balionbudget
Lempuyang Temple, famously known for its “Gates of Heaven,” offers one of Bali’s most iconic and spiritual experiences. Perched high on Mount Lempuyang, the temple rewards visitors with breathtaking views of Mount Agung framed perfectly between ancient stone gates. The journey uphill includes a serene drive and optional stair climb for the full pilgrimage experience. Dressed in traditional sarong, visitors are enveloped in Balinese culture and reverence.
The atmosphere is peaceful, spiritual, and photogenic beyond belief. Though often crowded for that famed snapshot, the sacred setting and surrounding natural beauty make the visit absolutely worth the wait.
My rating: 4.5 ⭐️ out of 5!

Mirror Magic at Gate of Heaven ✨📸
I went to Gate of Heaven in Bali and honestly, it’s beautiful! We went quite early in the morning, so there weren’t many people yet which was perfect for taking photos without waiting too long.
The famous photo spot with the reflection? It’s actually done using a mirror, not water 😂 But it still looks super nice in photos! You can just pass them your phone and they’ll help take the shots for you. So easy and the photos turned out really great.
✨If you’re planning to go, try to reach there early to avoid the crowd!

Finding Calm at Lempuyang Temple
#summervacay
Lempuyang Temple in Bali is known for its peaceful setting and stunning views. Surrounded by nature and misty mountains, it’s a place that feels calm and spiritual from the moment you arrive.
Many visitors come early in the morning, when the air is cool and the sky is soft. The famous stone gate frames a breathtaking view, often with clouds floating around Mount Agung in the background.
While the walk up involves some steps, the quiet atmosphere and fresh mountain breeze make it worth it. Lempuyang is a beautiful spot to pause, reflect, and enjoy the peaceful side of Bali.

Lempuyang Temple, Bali: Gateway to the Heavens

📍 Location:
Jl. Pura Telaga Mas Lempuyang, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia
Perched high on Mount Lempuyang, this sacred Hindu site is one of Bali’s oldest and most revered temples. Lempuyang Temple is famously known for its “Gates of Heaven,” where visitors pose between dramatic stone gates with Mount Agung looming majestically in the background. Beyond Instagram moments, this is a deeply spiritual place, wrapped in mist and silence, inviting reflection.
✨ Tips:
• Arrive early morning to avoid crowds and capture clearer mountain views—Mount Agung is often hidden by midday clouds.
• Respect the dress code: sarongs are required and usually available at the entrance.
• Be prepared for a long climb if visiting all seven temples along the mountain trail—bring water and good shoes.
• The “mirror photo” is staged using a piece of glass by locals—tip them respectfully if you take one.
• Visit on a clear day for the best backdrop; avoid weekends for quieter experience.
Best time to visit:
Dry season (April to October) offers clearer skies and safer hiking paths.

Lempuyang Temple – The Famous Gate of Heaven, Bali 🇮🇩
#balilife
Visiting the Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple is definitely a Bali bucket list experience! The iconic gate with the majestic Mount Agung in the background is absolutely breathtaking. But be ready—the queue here is real! 😂 Even though we went early in the morning, there was already a long line of people waiting for their turn.
The good thing is that the system is pretty organized. Everyone gets a number when they arrive, so you can relax and explore the area while waiting for your turn. The queue moves smoothly and you won’t feel rushed.
And guess what? It’s not just about the gate! You can walk around and take beautiful photos at other spots in the temple complex too. The peaceful surroundings, mountain views, and quiet corners make it a lovely place to explore beyond the famous photo.
Yes, you might have to wait, but the view and the whole vibe of Lempuyang Temple make it totally worth it. 📸✨ Just go with patience, and you’ll bring home one of the most iconic shots in Bali! 🌄💙

Lempuyang Temple (Lempuyang Temple) a temple on Lempu Mountain
#TravelEconomics Lempuyang Temple is a Hindu temple located on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang in eastern Bali. It is famous for its “Heaven’s Gate”, a stone archway that overlooks the majestic Mount Agung, making it a popular photo spot. #TravelBali #InterestingTemples
Pros:
* Amazing views: The view of Mount Agung from the temple grounds, especially from the “Heaven’s Gate”, is beautiful and unique.
* Spiritual atmosphere: The temple is a sacred and religious site, giving many people a sense of peace and spiritual power.
* Beautiful architecture: The architectural style and carvings of the temple reflect traditional Balinese art and culture.
* Cultural experience: Watching the Balinese perform religious rituals is an interesting and eye-opening experience.
Cons:
* Long queues: You may have to wait in line for a long time, especially at the “Heaven’s Gate”. Some reviews say you have to wait for hours.
* The “Water Reflection” is an optical illusion: A popular photo that appears to show a reflection in the water is actually the result of a mirror used by photographers on the premises. (Additional fee applies) which may be disappointing to some.
* Access: The temple is quite far from other major tourist attractions in Bali, making it quite a journey.
* Dress code: Visitors are required to dress modestly, wearing a sarong and a sash, which can be rented at the temple entrance.
Additional tips:
* Arrive early in the morning: To avoid crowds and long lines, it is best to arrive early in the morning.
* Be prepared for queues: If you want to take photos at the “Heaven’s Gate”, be prepared and allow enough time for queues.
* Be respectful of the place: Lempuyangan Temple is a sacred place, so be calm and respectful when visiting.
* Consider the hike: If you want to visit the higher temples, you will have to climb a lot of stairs, so be prepared and wear comfortable shoes.
* Beyond the Heaven’s Gate: Lempuyangan Temple also has other beautiful and interesting spots. It is worth exploring the surrounding area.
Lempuyangan Temple is a beautiful and spiritual place. The view of the “Heaven’s Gate” and the view of Mount Agung is impressive. However, visitors should be aware of the restrictions of long lines and the “water reflection” illusion, so that the visit can be smooth and enjoyable.

Bali’s Gate of Heaven
#favouriteitinerary #bali
If you haven’t seen Bali’s gate of heaven then I would say you’re lying. Nearly everybody I know that goes there posts a picture with it! This place is notorious itself for the magical feel.
Before going, people told me Bali was overrated and too crowded but all it took was looking at the amazing views to realize that it was all worth it! Their green fields and the coasts are one of the few things that I will always remember from vacations.
The only downside of Bali was that people were right about the traffic in Seminyak and Canggu! Also the lizards :’) Would love to stay in a private villa the next time I visit!

Lempuyang Temple: Bali’s Gateway to Heaven
#chillandthrill
Lempuyang Temple was as mystical as its nickname suggests. The iconic Gates of Heaven framed Mount Agung perfectly, creating a breathtaking view that felt almost surreal. Climbing the steep steps, I passed ornate shrines and was enveloped in the serene energy of this sacred site. Lempuyang wasn’t just a photo opportunity; it was a spiritual experience that lingered long after I left.
