Grindelwald is the outpost for climbing to the top of Jungfraujoch. The Eiger express is the latest means of transportation in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland. The entire line is about 6.5 kilometers, starting from Grindelwald terminal to Grindelwald transfer station. Termian Station → Eigergletscher (loop), one way takes about 15 minutes. You only need to take two more stations of the mountaineering railway to reach the top of the mountain. Along the cable car, you can see the famous North Face of the Eiger from different angles and have a panoramic view of the beautiful Alpine peaks. Along the way, you can hear the sound of cow bells constantly. Watching the cows eating grass is so healing😏 Most tourists take the train from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg, and then transfer to the mountain railway to the highest Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. To go up First Mountain, you can take a bus from the bus stop next to Grindelwald train station to the Firstbahn cable car station, which is only 3 minutes away (but you need to check the timetable carefully). The hotel will provide a transportation card for free bus rides, or you can walk there in about 10-15 minutes. You can buy a cable car ticket at the Firstbahn cable car station, cable car ticket (unlimited rides throughout the day)+1 adventure activity for Chf 50 (with the price of Swiss pass). The cable car has 4 stations in total, and the top one is First Mountain. It is recommended to go to the highest First Mountain and take photos at the First Cliff walk sky trail and observation deck, both of which are free. Sit down and play activities again.  There are a total of 4 activities to choose from, each of which is seasonal. Remember to check the official website first. I strongly recommend playing Mountain cart karts (only open from May to October). It's so much fun. It's so exciting to go uphill and downhill and make sharp turns along the way. But you have to pay attention to the speed and hold the brakes well. The scenery along the way is also very beautiful. You can stop and take pictures along the way, but be careful not to take too long because this project must be completed within 45 minutes. Mountain cart Get off at Schreckfeld and go to the next cable car station, Bort. Then take the train back to Firstbahn from Bort. The dreamy hillside is also a must-see in Grindelwald (the last picture) There is a small path behind Grindelwald train station. Keep walking down it. To save time, we opted for a private car, which cost €590 💶 for 13 hours. 📝 Itinerary 8:00 Depart from Milan by private car to begin the delightful journey. Drive along scenic routes, estimated travel time: 4–5 hours. 11:00 Stop at a service station en route to Switzerland. Enjoy lunch and sample local Swiss cuisine. 12:00 Arrive at Lungern, a quaint Swiss town. Take a leisurely stroll to admire the peaceful lake and charming architecture. 14:00 Head to Grindelwald via Interlaken to explore the dreamy hillside. Tour Grindelwald town, soak in the fairy-tale atmosphere, visit picturesque cabins, marvel at majestic mountain views, and optionally take a cable car ride for a broader view. 17:00 Begin the return journey, expected arrival back in Milan around 20:00. ⚠️ Notes Restrooms: Service stations have coin-operated machines for restroom access, costing 💰1 CHF per use. At restaurants 🚾, if you don’t make a purchase, you’ll need to pay separately for restroom use. Hot Water: At cafes/convenience stores, if you order coffee ☕, you can usually get free 🆓 hot water. Swiss prices are high—a latte costs 💰5 CHF, an Americano 💰4.2 CHF, and portions are typically half a cup. If you request hot water separately, it costs 💰2 CHF per cup. Weather: Check Swiss weather before departure. Sunny days are stunning, but the day we visited was rainy in the morning, though the sun 🌞 came out briefly in the afternoon. The Grindelwald Cliff Walk is truly a breathtaking place! The trail is built along the cliffs, allowing you to fully enjoy the magnificent natural scenery as you walk. Every step feels like walking on clouds, and it's an indescribable feeling. On the cliff walk, you can see the undulating mountains in the distance, the steep cliffs up close, and the babbling streams in the mountains, as if you are in a beautiful landscape painting. If you're lucky, you might also see some wild animals on the cliffs, such as squirrels and birds, adding a touch of vitality to this beautiful scene.
