[2025 Cape Otway Attraction] Travel Guide for Great Otway National Park (Updated Jul)

#celebratewithtrip as part of my great ocean road road trip , I also went to the great Otway national park for a really short and sweet hike to enjoy and explore the nature as I immerse myself there and had some time for some silence and reflection. it was nice to just look at the wonders of nature and explore the National park. the hike was very very easy and manageable and can be done by the young and old so no worries. there wasn’t any particularly steep areas so it was quite manageable. there was a hollow tree in the National park and it was nice looking at it. there were also many tall trees all around and it provided great shelter. love nature.

There are two famous lighthouses on the Great Ocean Road: one is the Little Red Riding Hood Lighthouse that has passed by, and the other is the oldest Cape Otway Lighthouse we are going to. It was built in 1848 and is still in use until now. The lighthouse is built on a 80-meter-high seaside cliff facing the intersection of the Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean. At the earliest, the thousands of immigrants from Europe and the Americas spent several months traveling across the ocean to Australia. The Cape Otway was the first they saw. A piece of land, because there was no lighthouse, it caused hundreds of people to die. Later, after several proposals, the lighthouse was built. There used to be a telegraph station during the Second World War, a lighthouse man's hut to find the story of the lighthouse keeper and the telegrapher, and you can watch the whales on the lighthouse and get to see the koala in the forest. It is called Maits Rest Rainforest Walk. The name Maits Rest comes from Maitland Bryant, the earliest forester in this area.
