The Allure of Jeju Island, Korea
Jeju Island, located at the southernmost tip of Korea, is the closest overseas resort destination from Japan. Let me introduce you to the charm of Jeju Island, a place I fell in love with so much that I visit three times a year! ✨
◎ A Nature-Filled Island Surrounded by Sea and Mountains
Jeju Island is actually four times larger than Seoul. It is surrounded by the sea, and at its center lies "Hallasan," the largest mountain in Korea. As a volcanic island formed by Hallasan's eruption, it is dotted with small hills called "Oreum" (오름).
The relaxed pace of life typical of resort destinations makes Jeju Island a perfect getaway for a short vacation.
↓ Recommended beaches:
📍Gwakji Beach (곽지해수욕장)
Location: Gwakji-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province
At this spacious beach, visitors can enjoy swimming or simply lie down and relax. During sunset, you can witness a breathtaking view of the sun setting over the horizon.
◎ Jeju Island's New Symbol: "Dream Tower" & Bar
📍Jeju Dream Tower (제주드림타워)
Location: Noyeon-ro 12, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Korea
Jeju Island offers not only natural beauty but also a modern urban vibe unique to Korea. The Grand Hyatt Hotel, featured in the romantic reality show "Single's Inferno," is located here. As the tallest building in Jeju, it houses a bar with panoramic views of the city, which is accessible even without staying at the hotel.
The "Sky View Lounge 38" on the 38th floor is a bar open to non-guests. While the champagne and cocktails are priced at around 2,000 yen each, the experience of enjoying the night view in a luxurious setting is truly exceptional! ✨
The Grand Hyatt Jeju also features a casino, making it a great spot to unwind before or after your gaming session. ☺
☕️
Jeju Island is also home to many charming Korean-style cafes! Many of them offer stunning ocean views, allowing you to relax and enjoy your trip at a leisurely pace.
📍UDA
Location: 1631-1 Hogeun-dong, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province
Price: Around 700 yen per drink
Located in Seogwipo City in the southern part of Jeju Island, this area offers a more natural experience compared to the city center. I stumbled upon this cafe without any prior research, and it turned out to be a gem with amazing views!
I ordered a sweet potato latte and grapefruit ade. The coffee brewed on-site was exceptional, and the cold drinks were a refreshing treat after stepping in from the hot outdoors. ☺️
📍BEAN to Z
Location: 1435-2 Geonip-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province
💰 Price: Around 700 yen per drink
This cafe offers a relaxing atmosphere with views of the sea in Jeju City. Some visitors come alone to study, making it a great spot to unwind.
Its proximity to the airport allows you to watch planes take off and land, which is another highlight! On a hot day, I ordered a grapefruit ade here as well. It's a drink that's hard to find in Japan, so I highly recommend trying it when you visit Korea.
