Shenzhen's new exhibition name: ETERNAL SPIRAL III (Endless Spiral III) - James Jean
⚫️Artist James Jean studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and received a degree in fine arts in 2001. He began his career as a commercial illustrator and in 2007-2008 he collaborated with Prada on a series of projects, including mural installations, fabric prints and an animated film. Jian Ming is committed to integrating contemporary subject matter with aesthetic techniques from diverse sources, including traditional Chinese scroll paintings, Japanese woodblock prints, Renaissance portraits, West African masquerade masks, comics, and psychedelic art. Through experimentation with different styles and art historical schools, Concise chooses to depict individual and collective experiences and feelings within a complex cosmic world. He is good at extracting images from contemporary culture and ancient languages, and using his imagination to shape his mythological kingdom.
🔴In this exhibition, artist Jian Ming brought large sculptures and a Pantheon constructed with multi-faceted glass surfaces. They bring the characters in the painting images to life, transforming them from flat to three-dimensional, providing different angles for character creation and narrative. These images blend cultural heritage from European legends, Asian stories, and fairy tales, connecting reality and myth, history and the present, exuding a magnificent and tranquil beauty, and creating an ocean for us to roam freely in our imagination. The statues include Maze, Slightshoot, Woodcutter, Bath, Desendent, and Spring. There are also artists' sketches, palettes and various paintings on site, which are worth checking in and observing. 👗 Clothing suggestions: Wear solid-color clothes (black and white are recommended), and don't wear too colorful clothes. Because there are a lot of flowers in the background, it doesn’t look good in photos.
